This is an interactive book where as the reader you get to choose the path you follow and choices you make. One of the options is a nurse, you get many choices like whether to go to the hospital or go to the shores and more. This could be a good way to teach students about the different view points of the people involved in Pearl Harbor. Similar to the Choose Your Own Adventure books I grew up with, this is an interactive, non-fiction account of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Readers can choose to see the attack from various points of view including, nurses, Japanese pilots and military men stationed on Pearl Harbor. While it doesn't read from page to page, if the reader chooses to re-read they will get an indepth account of the attack from different sides. The illustrations and graphics add nicely to the experience. Allison Lassieur's The Attack on Pearl Harbor is a nonfiction work focused on the perspectives of various individuals involved in the Japanese attack on Hawaii in December of 1941- the day that will live that will live in infamy. Lassieur allows readers to relive this history by providing readers the opportunity to make decisions on how they would have reacted to the events of the attack. On the one hand, this form of organization does not allow or require the reader to gauge the full scope of characters and choices. On the other hand, readers who chose to reread the book can enjoy a new experience each time. The scope of characters ranges from a Japanese fighter pilot, a U.S. Navy sailor, and a Navy nurse. Each character gives a point of view which enriches this history. As readers choose a particular character to relive, the book guides provide easy instructions which direct the chosen narrative. What I enjoy about this work is its usefulness in the classroom. The unique narrative provides for instilling greater understanding through perspective building and differentiation in learner activities. Another one of the greatest strengths is the resources included which expand deeper into the content of World War II and the Pearl Harbor attacks. The inclusion of biography, addition readings, other exploratory topics, and internet resources aids in expanding content while the glossary allows readers to become familiar with unique military language. Overall, this would be a great introductory book to the events of the Pearl Harbor attacks for various history courses. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
