Ghost Hunting: How to Investigate the Paranormal von Loyd Auerbach (kawika)
kawika: Taylor's book gives a little more historical background and is more mundane in its reasoning while Auerbach's may be considered a little more "out there" regarding his theories for paranormal events.

Picture Yourself Ghost Hunting von Christopher Balzano (kawika)
kawika: The Ghost Hunter's Guidebook is a little bit more dense and fills you in much better in regards to the history of ghost hunting. Picture Yourself is more light-hearted in its presentation. Both have points that agree and disagree, but they are a good starting point.… (mehr)

So far I haven't read a better guidebook than this. It describes both the basics and more advanced stuff, generally everything each ghost hunter should keep in mind when doing paranormal investigations.

The language is simple (I'm non-native English speaker), but I have to say, the font is terrible, generally, the DTP and pages layout seems unprofessional at least.

Still, the content is what really matters, and the content is good. (

By far the most pragmatic and practical of the how-to ghosthunting books I've read. Add to that Taylor's excellent historic accounts of those who have gone before in the realm of paranormal investigators, and this book is a real treat for anyone who wants an interesting but no-nonsense introduction to the field. (

Big book, small font, tons of information, written by a professional, even more information, only few photos, so you can focus on the content :). This is the only guide to investigating the paranormal I can recommend.

If you want to become a "ghost hunter", there's no excuse, you have to have this book! (

There is no New Age psychic talk, but pure logical and skeptical approach (I mean open minded skepticism of course). Another thing I like is that Troy gives you step by step instructions for your investigations. Really, with this book you can go to haunted place and you will know what to do.
