I thought that this book was a great biography for young readers. One thing I liked about this book was that it included boxes and blurbs aside from the text that had fun facts about Neil Armstrong, or an extension of the information that was on that particular page. This keeps the reader engaged in other aspects, aside from just reading the regular bulk text in paragraph form. For example, page 14 which has information about how Neil used to fly X-15 rockets, has a fact bubble that reads "Rocket planes, like the ones shown here, could fly 4,000 miles per hour, faster than any planes before." This definitely adds a "cool" factor to some of the basic text that may seem boring to some readers. Something else that I liked about this book was that the pictures were large and covered the whole page, while the text and fact bubbles covered another page. This allows the reader to see the detail in the photos since the book itself is relatively small. I also liked that there is a timeline in the back of the book, marking important events in Neil Armstrong's life. This also allows the information to be presented in a more visual way, instead of in paragraph form. Some of the events include his birth, when he joined the astronaut program, when he landed on the moon, and when he died. There are also extra features in the back of the book like a poem about Neil Armstrong, a Glossary, an Index, and a section about the author. The big idea of this book was to inform readers about the life and major accomplishments of Neil Armstrong. ( )

This book is an easy reader for young children. It is full of facts and information that young children would find very interesting. ( )
