A great book to use to celebrate the 100th day of school. My school and students always celebrate and many classes bring in collections. This is perfect to read with the kids! ( )

I used this book for text connections because the 100th day of school is a very exciting time and big deal for elementary students. Many students will connect with this book and talk about their experiences, also adding what they want to do in the years to come. They will talk about what they have one-hundred of and what they could bring or ways they can contribute.

I would use this book for any grade level when the 100th day of school came around. I would also use this book in 1st or 2nd, because when counting to 100, Jake creates piles of 10 books. This would be a good intro to what skip counting is, and also be fun for the students because the 100th day of school is such a celebration at that age. For older ages, I would use this as a mentor text for short stories. It would be good for them to see how they can make realistic events into fiction. ( )
