The villain's motivation was a little hazy, but it was another really enjoyable set of issues in this series. ( ) Where book one is the first case that Walker and Pilgrim worked together, this book is the second case. Stylistically, this book follows the first with its dark color scheme and sparse use of bright color. Let me tell you that it is used to great effect. The main characters are police detectives. They visit crime scenes and witness violence. You know what happens because you can see it, but the artists nail what is important by showing it in bright color. Actually, the Black Widow books do something similar, but not in a film noir style, more contrasting washed-out colors with vivid colors in some frames. And the Hawkeye books (both series from Marvel) use a really limited palette but without the splashes of color to highlight points. Without giving away any spoilers, this book continues to not be the television show. Actually in some ways, I a m glad I started watching the show first. Had I done it the other way around, I am sure that I still would have liked the show, but would have spent a lot of time saying things like, "that's not what they did in the books!" I always do this in such cases, even when I like both book and show, when I have read the book first. This is not to say that I am disappointed in the show, just focusing on the differences. I never seem to do that when I watch the tv show or movie first. Maybe I expect that the show will be different. Maybe I know that the show comes second so it can't be the original (well, duh). Maybe I just focus more on the story because I require a lot more concentration to read than watch a show. One of the things I really like best about this book, is that the detectives have to do detecting. They visit crime scenes, check their files, interview suspects and people of interest. They might get a lucky break on something, but only after they have been putting in the hours. This is as opposed to Batman who has a one page spread where he and Alfred discuss how Bats put a tracer on something or hacked something. This book is about the mystery, not about the fight scenes. I like it. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Heroes glide through the sky on lightning bolts and fire. Flamboyant villains attempt daring daylight robberies. God-like alien creatures clash in an epic batt le in the night sky. And on the dirty city streets below, homicide detecti ves Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim work special homicide cases that involve Powers. This case is the most disturbing one yet. A group of collage kids who "role play" their favorite real-life superheroes D&D style are being murdered one by one. And the path of violence takes our detecti ves to the most unexpected places.
