This is a chapter book that details Mother Teresa's life, accomplishments, and remarkable work conducting throughout the world. This is an informational book that provides illustrations, photos, quotes, facts, etc. to give readers a better understanding of Mother Teresa and all that her life entailed. One thing I liked about this book was how it provided text boxes on pages with photographs to further explain certain things. For example, there are charts on pages that briefly explain things like, the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, nun's habits, the festival of lights. These are things that can help the reader get a better understanding of things they might not exactly know much about while reading. The next thing I like is how the book provides real life photographs of places, people, and objects. I've always believed that photos do a better job of explaining things than illustrations. The final thing I really like about this book is the use of quotes from Mother Teresa. In order to get a better understanding of what someone was really like, what that person actually said/says is vital to understanding who they were all about. Overall, I thought it was a very well designed chapter book and could one that children use for projects or assignments in school. ( ) This book was a biography of Mother Theresa filled with photos to accompany the text to present a visual for readers to view. The only red flag I noticed was that it mentions subjects such as abortion, AIDS, and contraception. The book mentions her teaching in India for 17 years before she experienced her 1946 "call within a call" to devote herself to caring for the sick and poor. The book chronicles her early life and the influences that caused her to become such an inspiring figure. She and her mother were very close. I loved the advice that her mother,Drana Bojaxhiu, offered to her daugher, Mother Theresa. "My child, never eat a single mouthful unless you are sharing it with others," she counseled her daughter. This is an informational biography on the life of Mother Teresa. The book starts with her early life when she was going through the process of becoming a nun. It then journeys to her life helping the poor in Calcutta and continues to show her helping the sick in a traveling medical dispensary. The chapters highlight different projects. Chapter 9 highlights her loving heart and desire to help premature, orphaned, or disabled children. The book even shares her feelings and trips to Las Vegas. It's a journey through all her charity work, projects, and missionary work. This is a small chaper book that gives young readers a glimpse into the inspiring life of Agnes, aka Mother Teresa. The book is visually appealing with colorful photgraphs on each page. It would definitely hold the interest of young readers with all the historical and engaging photos.
