Keine aktuelle Diskussion zu diesem Buch. 00010524 This book talked about what Johnny Appleseed did for others, talked about how he grew seeds into a tree and then he went and traded that tree. Throughout the book you see the different things Johnny Appleseed trades with other people, a pan, shirt. He helps a little girl get an apple from a tree. It showed how hard working Johnny Appleseed and the other people are. Summary: This is a book about a young boy named John Chapman and his love for apple trees. John roamed the country with apple seeds and passed them out to neighbors around him so they too could experience the wonderful fruit and happiness that apple trees brought him. Personal reaction: This boy is an easy-to-read book with words that young beginner readers are familiar with. It is a great book to read in September during an apple unit. Classroom extension ideas: Read this book during an apple unit (I usually do mine in September). Talk about who John Chapman was and why he got the name Johnny Appleseed. End the lesson with a craft. We made Johnny Appleseed hats, which looked like a pot on our heads! The kids loved the hats! I really liked this book for two reasons. First, the author did a great job with pacing in her writing. During the trading part of the story there were many items that people wanted to trade with him. "Would you take a pan?" "Yes!" "Would you take a shirt?" "Yes!" The short sentences with the yes ending were very engaging. Another reason that I liked this book was because the author chose to use many onomatopoeia terms in her language. "Pat, pat, pat" gave a clear sound of what it sounded like when Johnny was planting seeds. The big idea of this story was to inform young children about Johnny Chapman, a.k.a. Johnny Appleseed and his legend. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
