This is a great choice for today's generation. Instead of simply recounting the events, the book lets the reader make choices about how their character acts. Plus they can go back and make different decisions to see new outcomes. ( )

Each path leads the reader on a different turn of events with a different ending. The author also takes the reader down the different sides of the war. A reader can either be fighting the Germans, join the Canadian military, or serve with the Americans.
The author not only depicts true events but shares real pictures of WWII, enhancing the experience. ( )

This book is interesting because it is a you choose book. In chapter 1, it starts off with World War II starting and then at the end of the chapter it allows you to pick what you are going to do. The three options you can do at the beginning are: fight the Germans in the Netherlands, sign up for the Canadian military, or serve in the American armed forces. Once you make your decision you have to go to a certain page number. Each path has a certain outcome and all lead to the conclusion at the end of the book. Altogether, there are 3 different story paths, 57 choices the reader can make and 24 different endings. This book was very engaging and I liked the many options I had as a reader to decide what I wanted to do. At the end, I was able to go back and read about the other two paths I could have taken if I wanted. One downfall of this setup of the book is the reader doesn’t have to read all the pages of the book. Of the 112 pages of the book, the reader can finish the book by reading about 40 pages and be complete. You can align this book with World War II lessons and the many sides that different types of people it took for the allies to win the war.
