Winter's Tail is a true story about how a dolphin named Winter lost her tail. The story follows Winter's journey as she is rescued and treated. I like this book because it is a true story that includes actual photographs of Winter and her journey. It shows her rescue, her prosthetic tail being made, and her recovery. In the end of the book, after the story is finished, the author includes more information about dolphins, prosthetics, and the aquarium in which Winter now resides. I also liked that this book had a message, even though it was an educational book. The message was that even though Winter lost everything (her family, her tail, and her home in the ocean) she was still strong and showed that hope can help accomplish anything. ( )

Then Winter received a prosthetic tail. It was very challenging but now Winter is thriving and using her new tail with great command. Every year, thousands of visitors travel to visit Winter who has become an inspiration to adults and children alike, especially to children who are amputees themselves. And now Winter's story is soon to be a major motion picture starring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, and Harry Connick Jr.!
