When she gets to school all of the other girls have wands and pretty wings while Wanda has a broomstick and her wings are different. Wanda thinks that she is at the wrong school because none of her friends look like her. Her teacher informs her that she is in the right school and asks Wanda if she likes her school. Wanda does like her school, friends and teacher very much. The theme of the book is that everyone is different and anyone can be friends. ( ) Wanda is a witch off to her first day of school. Wanda’s mom packs her lunch for school, it had frog eggs, rat tails and lizard’s breathe lemonade. Wand flies to school on her broomstick and is excited to make new friends. When she gets to school she feels out of place but the teacher told her that’s normal to feel that way on the first day. She looked so different from everyone else. The other students started asking her where her wand was and why she had a broom. She notices all the students have wands instead of broomsticks. She offered to share her lunch with other students and they freaked out. Wanda drank magic potion and grew wings. Then the teacher had to ask Wanda to get her plant to put her down. Wanda looks out of the window and notices other students flying by and they were witches like her. She asked her teacher again if she was sure this was the right school for her. Wanda went home went to bed and decided she would bring her teacher an apple with a worm the next day. I loved this book the pictures help tell the story and show the reactions of the characters. This book would be good choice for grades k-3. I think this would be a perfect book to read on the first day of school. A little witch named Wanda winds up at a school for fairies in this amusing "first day of school" story from English author/artist Mark Sperring, whose other picture-book outings include such titles as The Fairytale Cake and Mermaid Dreams. With her lunch of octopus sandwich and "lizard's breath lemonade" safely tucked away, Wanda finds her way to Miss Dewdrop's School, where her fellow pupils, from Tulip Fluffyglow to Willow Peachbreath, are just a little bit different from her, and the pink decor made her feel oddly out of place. When she spies a woggle of witchy pupils flying past her window, she realizes that she has come to the wrong school! Can she find her way to the right one, and more importantly, does she want to...? Children who enjoy magical stories without much bite to them will appreciate this sweet story, which, though its resolution is something of a foregone conclusion, will still prove very entertaining. The illustrations by Kate and Liz Pope are full of fun, with Wanda sticking out like a sore thumb, amidst her pastel-clad peers. Recommended to young readers who like witchy tales, and to anyone looking for reassuring "first day of school" stories. This is a great little story. Wanda is a witch. It is her first day of school and she is nervous. Once she arrives she starts to question if she is in the right place because the other students don't look like her. The illustrations are bright, creative and fun to look at. This is a great book to show that people are different from each other and that it is okay to be different. This was a great read! This story that shows that opposites can come together and be integrated. Wanda is a witch and starts a school that is all fairies. At first she feels out of place but eventually she realizes that she feels at home here. Its great to read when teaching opposites and differentiation. The illustrations are fun and silly. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
