Nick Daniels is a renowned journalist who works on high-profile stories. So, when Dwayne Robinson, a baseball legend who's been missing for ten years, asks for an interview, Nick's more than excited. Little did he know that he was about to be targeted by a mafia hitman. Nick is likable, but the plot is so outlandish that it's almost comical. This book was a fast and entertaining story, but I forgot about it as soon as I read the last page. ( ) I love James Patterson. Whenever I want to read something quick and entertaining, he always delivers and he puts out so many books that there seems to always be something new. This particular book follows a journalist that gets pulled into the mob scene when he witnesses a gruesome murder. Like any good mystery, there are betrayals and loyalties. There are good twists and turns. I knew there were going to be betrayals but not who which I enjoy. I love when there are a few things that I do not figure out. Overall, this book was definitely worth reading and since it is not part of a series, the story is over.
I have read several of Patterson's books and this book was more than what I expected. By far the greatest of his work ever I will not stop reading his books. It stands up to it's name on this one because you "Don't Blink". BeinhaltetPrestigeträchtige Auswahlen
The good: New York's Lombardo's Steak House is famous for three reasons, the menu, the clientele, and now, the gruesome murder of an infamous mob lawyer. Effortlessly, the assassin slips through the police's fingers, and his absence sparks a blaze of accusations about who ordered the hit. The bad: Seated at a nearby table, reporter Nick Daniels is conducting a once-in-a-lifetime interview with a legendary baseball bad boy. In the chaos, he accidentally captures a key piece of evidence that lands him in the middle of an all-out war between Italian and Russian mafia forces. NYPD captains, district attorneys, mayoral candidates, media kingpins, and one shockingly beautiful magazine editor are all pushing their own agendas on both sides of the law. And the dead: Back off or die is the clear message Nick receives as he investigates for a story of his own. Heedless, and perhaps in love with his beautiful editor, Nick endures humiliation, threats, violence, and worse in a thriller that overturns every expectation and finishes with the kind of flourish only James Patterson knows.
