More of a note to myself than anything, but I feel like the first couple times I read this I totally missed or maybe just forgot the line at the very end where Kendra toys with the idea of someday maybe becoming an Eternal?? idk how I feel about that, and it's kinda weird that it was dropped in literally in the last two pages of the book. Anyways, I'm always impressed at the sheer amount of action and quests happening in this story; there's never a chance to be bored by any of it, and seeing all the pieces fall into place is immensely satisfying! It definitely gets a touch chaotic at points, but I don't think that detracts from the overall enjoyment of such an epic series finale. By far the Keys to the Demon Prison is the strongest book in the Fablehaven series. In it, Mull corrects many of his earlier mistakes, by creating nuanced and interesting characters on all sides. He highlights shifting alliances and the difficulties arising from allying with those currently convenient. Of particular note is the comparison that Mull draws between Seth and the Sphinx in the early part of the book. The plot is also entertaining, with even more creative settings and creatures. Some of the flaws that plagued the early books, such as villain monologuing, plot that turns out to be largely unnecessary, and repetition of exposition to each character in turn, are still present in Keys to the Demon Prison, but in attenuated form. Mull also tries to actually highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each character, rather than play on gender norms as was the case in early books. Love all the characters!! Kendra I can relate to the most but I think there's also a bit of Seth in all of us. Brandon Mull's got amazing themes too! I read a lot of trashy stuff before I figured out that there's actually good books out there (I know that probably sounds weird but it's true) but Fablehaven was always an anchor for me. If I ever have kids in the future, I would not hesitate to give this series to them to read. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

I was sad to read at the end that there weren't going to be any more books to continue on with our favorite characters, but they really don't NEED more story.
In this final installment everything comes to a head. Everyone is captured at one point in time. Friends turn to enemies, enemies turn to friends. They travel all over the world and you get to experience the 5th and hidden reserve. There is all out war, brave heroics, heart breaking losses, and a peanut butter sandwich.
This final book just solidifies my desire to see this series done in a movie or mini series format. I would love to see everyone go through their adventures one last time on screen.
Loved it!! ( )
