I *loved* both the content and the writing. I had problems with the falconry chapter, but that’s on me, not the author. Highly recommended. ( )

I learned a lot more about birds. Cassowaries. Want to see one. This book talked about what birds know and shows that birds are smarter than most humans give them credit for. ( )

Birdology by Sy Montgomery is an excellent book of natural history of birds. The book discusses a variety of birds, including crows, parrots, pigeons, hawks, hummingbirds, cassowaries and chickens. In Ms. Montgomery’s books she becomes so personally involved with the animals about she is writing, the reader is immediately engaged and wants to know more. I read the bibliography as closely as I read her books because I want to know more about each of these birds. Ms. Montgomery’s enthusiasm is catching! If birds didn’t live so long, I would consider having one as a pet. The chapters that enthralled me the most were on cassowaries and crows. I highly recommend this book if you have any interest in natural history, animals or birds in particular. ( )
