This is the second book I read from this author and again he delivers a great story, a dark novel, where the psychological side of each character is very well treated and taken care. The plot is interesting. Mary is a travel agent who lost her two years old baby drowned in a bathtub, and lost her husband, who abandoned her after baby's death. Being treated by a psychiatrist, she falls in love to him and they go together to Venice in what would be a business travel for the doctor. All the situations and places are richly described and the feelings of Mary are deeply explored in this intense and dark novel. I recommend this book to the permanent library of any reader who likes a well-written book with a dark psychological side. Very entertaining, excellent write style from the author. It took me around 5 hours to read the whole book. Permanence by Vincent Zandri is a story of a woman, Mary Kismet riddled by guilt after the death of her young child. Because of this accident her husband leaves her and seeks the council of a psychiatrist. She doesn't work and is living off the insurance money from her child's accident. She soon becomes involved in a sexual affair with her psychiatrist. Mary's frame of mind is delicate at best and the affair that she is into is probably not the best idea for her. She can not seem to come to grips with the fact that she feels responsible for her child's death. She has pretty much become a recluse and only sees her psychiatrist and goes with him to Italy supposedly for medical conferences but the visit is not what she thinks... This story has some dark elements and it is not the usual romance novel either. Mr.Zandri's writing is exceptional in that the reader can feel the emotions and the thoughts going through Mary's mind. I would have to say that the ending kind of blew me away, never saw it coming. The writing style kind of reminded me of a Patricia Highsmith book. I read this book in one sitting and enjoyed it. Fans of Vincent Zandri will definitely enjoy this book!! Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
