"A fusion of theology and autobiography." Harvey Cox's The Secular City and The Feast of Fools have made him the best-known and most iconoclastic writer on religion in America today. The story he tells here is in part his own spiritual autobiography: the record of the journey from the "tribal village," where he was born and raised, through the ambiguities and demands of the age in which we now live--a journey that Cox shared and completed, only to begin a longer, more arduous journey toward the "city of light," a synthesis of religion and liberation that is at the heart of his concern.
