I like the idea of short stories, they're being compact and well-suited for brief unproductive waiting periods in our daily lives, but I'm not too fond of stories that immerse you in incomplete storylines. There were several of these in H. Peter Alesso's All Androids Lie book.

Started off ok then became a limp page-turner at the end

Some good and some stereotypic characters create a fair start in this space opera series. The storyline is the typical non-communicative aliens seeking to invade Earth and need to be repelled by Earth's Space Forces. Henry is special but his leap to command is not very realistic. Hopefully, The series will become less predictable and become more interesting.

This is bad

Random speechifying. The hospital has shields, but they lose power and he starts a generator to get them up, but apparently the shields don't keep people out, but he has to take them down before the soldiers arrest him...bombers and artillery rain down while he rides a "motorcycle-like" flyer without getting shot at...long info dumps, but none of it information that explains what is going on...

Nature and hoped-for use of new tools such as RDF (Resource Description Framework) and OWL (Web Ontology Language) meant to transform the present World Wide Web into a future Semantic Web. Marred by outbreaks of typos, poor writing, and managerial bafflegab.
