I really wanted to like this book, however, it read like a young adult book. The characters who were supposed to be in their twenties really acted much younger. I felt like I was reading about high schoolers. The book was a little slow, in my opinion. I didn't know this was part of a series, but I wouldn't have read the first one anyway after reading this one. The female character, Joanna, acted like a spoiled brat and I found myself disliking her the more I read. I found that towards the end of the book, it started to get a little more interesting, but it wasn't enough. This book just wasn't for me and I am a fan of fantasy.… (mehr)
