Brandy Ayers

This was the first I've read from Brandy Ayers. It's the second in the series, although it can be read as a standalone.
The story is suspenseful, steamy, and humorous at times. I loved the way they met - him staking out the street outside her home after her traffic complaints, and then continuing to come back on the pretext of traffic watch, but really just coming to see her every day. Bryan is a hot Alpha cop who has women falling all over him until he meets Lexis. She's a single mom, has been burned in the past and isn't in a rush to start a relationship with someone new so Bryan has to work hard to win her over. All around a good read, but wish it were a bit longer. I'm looking forward to reading the others in the series, to find out more about the underlying story thread about the crime in Middleburg.… (mehr)

Intoxication is the third in the Blue Line series that centers around a police force in small town Middleburg. Jon Gallo, police chief and Camille Artiga, victim/suspect share an instant and powerful attraction when they see each other for the first time. Jon is tasked with protecting her from the drug gang led by her brother. They spend weeks in a safe house and, due to his sense of honor and duty - he is 20 years older than she is and he is supposed to be protecting her - he resists all temptation to give in to the attraction, much to both their frustration. The dramatic ending leads them a little bit closer to breaking the case, but we have to wait until book 4 to find out if and how the drug ring is broken and her brother caught. This book has strong emotions, steamy love scenes, a bit of action. Appearances of characters from the first two books, along with the underlying drug trafficking story gives continuity to the series. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens next!… (mehr)
