I read this book many years ago, when it was first published, and enjoyed it enough to keep it (which means that I thought I was likely to read it again). This time around, though (2010), I couldn't get more than 40 pages into it - I found the humour a little laboured and the picture of India, at the start anyway, prone to cliche.
