This was more like a 3.75. I didn’t think Darcy was very likeable. She was a little bit annoying and she reminded me of me.
Anyway, if you’re looking for something light when you’re in between heavy books, pick this up! The book was pretty enjoyable and I think this shall wrap up my romance streak.

4 stars because I'm not really a fan of the whole "I'm not going to talk to the other person I'm just going to be MAD" trope. but I had fun with this. I liked the characters and how they were fleshed...but I found myself putting the book down a lot to just digest the fact that they were not communicating well.

Just a passing nod to Pride and Prejudice. And from a long distance, too. I can tell I am not enjoying a book when I notice errors in it. The errors in the German sentence, the statement about the smell of nicotine, etc. A fine book to borrow from the library and read when nothing more interesting is happening.

I am rating this book for exactly what it is, which is a lesbian meet-cute and smut novel. It is easy to read. The characters are one-dimensional, save for maybe Gemma, and the dénouement is a simple satisfaction of come-uppances against Gemma's extended family. Sometimes that ticks the boxes for what you want in a story.

Solid 3.5 for me, only rounded down because there was no afterward. Like a flash 6 months forward or something. I understand that having an immediate sequel made it harder but I think I’ve just come to really expect and enjoy that from romances as like the final word on it. But overall a really solid romance novel :) I loved the holiday setting and as a Capricorn I have a soft spot for what Darcy went through. The only thing that kept it from 4 stars I think is the instant connection trope throughout the book. It just seemed like it was a little over the top for how guarded Darcy was. But that’s 10000% personal preference. If you like really mushy love at first sight romances you will love this. And I really enjoyed it, I just think the third book in the series was a little more my taste. Overall I do recommend this book and I enjoy the author a lot.

this was kind of fun in the way she mashed up a handful of tropes all together, and did it in a believable way. (i mean, as believable as a marriage being a condition of inheritance can be, although she really did make me believe that wasn't such an anachronism for this family, so well done there.)

i like the way she wrote these characters, and their banter was fun. their declarations of sappiness were over the top and harder for me, especially as they were sprinkled in everywhere. it was nice how quickly these two fell for each other, and how they weren't hiding it from each other, each assuming the other was still pretending. that was nice to see, and well handled.

this is only my second of her books and i didn't love this, but i really do like how it seems like she writes really strong characters who don't compromise on who they are.

Tansy is the unloved step-daughter, ala Cinderella. Gemma is the black sheep of the family.

Tansy's stepmohter is considereing selling the bookstore started by her grandfather. It has been Tansy's life for ever so long. Tansy needs to figure out a way to buy the store from her stepmother.

Gemma, surprisngly, is heir to her grandfather's publishing business, to the consternation of her father and cousin, Tucker. However, there is a stipulation. She needs to be married before the December board meeting and stay married for two years.

Long story short, Tansy and Gemma meet at Tuckier's wedding to Tansy's stepsister. Gemma and Tansy strike a deal. Get married and Gemma will fnance Tansy's bookstore acquisition and Gemma will inherit the publishing empire.

Can a marriage of convenience turn into love? And, if so, what could possibly go wrong! Like Bellefleur's other books, this is totally readable and enjoyable.

The Fiancée Farce by Alexandria Bellefleur
Contemporary F-F romance. Fake relationship troupe.
Tansy has been lying about being in a relationship for the last six months to avoid family functions. Accidentally having named the other person, Tansy is shocked when Gemma shows up at a family wedding and agrees to go along with the game. Of course there are conditions and consequences along the rocky road to love.

Each of the women are attracted to the other which makes for delicious tension. Each also has personal issues beyond the set-up that they have to deal with. Together they need to watch their trusted friends and their backs.
It was tantalizing and a bit bumpy and ultimately heart swooning.

I received a copy of this from the publisher.

Darcy and Elle go on a disastrous first date. But Darcy wants to get her brother off her back about finding someone, and Elle lets Darcy talk her into a fake dating scheme. But then of course feelings happen. Delightful!

New drinking game: take a shot everytime you hear/read vetiver.....

For real though, it took three books for me to finally find a book I like from Bellefleur... that being said this was still an okay read. I appreciate the fact that Gemma and Tansy decided to date for real much sooner than most others of the fake date/marrige tropes might but it still could use some work. A lot of the characters and their backgrounds feel like her other books so it all felt a little stale in the end. Not to mention I might have some ptsd about hearing vetiver. lol

I think it’s the narrator but I seriously had a hard time getting invested in the story and the characters. This was almost a DNF for me. 🤣 the synopsis seemed interesting to be me so idk what happened.

Of the two I've read out of this series, this is the better of the two.... but I still struggle with the characters and their issues.... Margot is extremely jealous and has some serious abandonment issues…. It makes her rather palatable…. I feel like she should have a firm grasp on her baggage and be honestly making amends on it much sooner than the end of the book. Sex scenes were pretty steamy, and overall much better than book 1… but still not enough for me to really like this one.

3.5 rounded up to 4

Such a lovely romance that was sweet and sizzling in equal measure. I absolutely loved both of the main characters. Elle, who believes in star signs and destiny, and Darcy, who seems emotionally closed off and cynical about love. Probably my only gripe is that the miscommunication went on for one or two too many rounds for my liking. Still a gorgeous romantic read.

CW: detailed sex scenes, cheating, awful parents

there's a lot to like here - the writing is often snappy, the characters mostly act in ways that totally make sense for their baggage and issues, the contrast between head and heart (is this a sense and sensibility retelling?) is nice, the friendship relationship and the sibling relationship are really lovely, the resolution of the family drama was really well done, the sex scenes are great. i especially liked the way the characters were themselves, refusing to be who others wanted, and how they respected each other even when they weren't getting along. it's definitely enjoyable and mostly believable for the issues and conflict that arise, although i'm not sure it made sense that darcy wouldn't have said something when elle was confronting her and breaking down. but the story relied on her doing that. also on elle being more insecure than actually made sense for her character. these were annoyances but pretty easily overlooked because the reading was fun. i also don't ever like how fast some of these books make the people change their entire outlook or life for someone they just met, but maybe that's just me.½

That was such a great read. The first one is still my favourite, but this one comes close.
While I'm not too fond of Margot and Olivias backstory together, their romance is captivating.
Olivia fits right into the little group of characters and is likeable the instance she appears the first time. Lovely read with by far the best ending in the entire series!

While it is my least favourite book out of the trilogy, I thought it was a cute read.
Annie is a great character and while I'm not the biggest Brendon fan (his hopeless romaticism hits a little too close to home I think :D), I still think their romance is great.
The only thing I really disliked about the book is the ending. While I thought the drama at the end of the first book felt a bit forced, it felt way more forced with this one.
I also liked, that we got to see/hear a little of Elle and Darcy.

Oh I really liked this book. Elle is such a likeable, bubbly character and Darcy the perfect matching tsundere. I mean honestly... who doesn't like a little enemy-to-lovers in their life? ;)
Also great supporting characters. Margot is great. I'm so glad she got her own book!
Sadly the drama at the end felt a little forced, but it didn't take the enjoyement out of the book for me.

Cute and sometimes steamy. Olivia and Margot were best friends in high school. A romantic interlude ended badly when Olivia got back together with her boyfriend Brad. Both thought their romantic week meant something strong but neither said anything.

Eleven years later, Olivia is a event/wedding planner and in planning the wedding of Margot's best friend and his fiancee. They meet and sparks fly. Will the sparks ignite? Read and find out.
