I wish I could remember how I ended up putting this book on hold at the library, because I really want to be angry at someone other than myself for choosing this stupid philosophical claptrap about the nature of happiness.

Maybe I was just lured in by the big fuzzy bear on the cover. Bad bear!!

I really wanted to love this book, but it turned out to be quite dull--too many disparate parts, all of which were too long, except the really gripping ones. There's a great essay on the concept of transparency in government and public life (hint: it's probably a sop thrown to us by people looking to maintain their own power), and a nice piece about a traffic accident. In between, there's way too much stuff that just isn't that gripping.
