Romantic suspense, can the cop save the “supermodel” from a maniacal murder. Tongue-in-cheek romance when teenage lovers are reunited. Fun, fast-paced.

A Great Read!

Lori is a fantastic female lead character..She is certainly charismatic, beautiful, feisty and quite stubborn..What I love about her the most is her contradictions..She is supermodel, for crying out loud, and she still doesn't believe she is so beautiful..She doesn't believe she's good enough or smart enough or worthy enough..She has lost so many people in her life and she's been hurt even more..
What i admire about her is that she doesn't give up on the people she loves, even though they have hurt her and pushed her away from their lives..

Davis is a man who has made many mistakes in his life, starting with breaking up with Lori..He followed his parents' wishes and now he is unhappy and alone. And now lori comes back into his life and he doesn't want to lose again. He fights for her, just like he should have done in the beginning..
Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is to realise that, apologize and make up for it.And Davis does that..

A wonderful book about getting back the one who got away...

Eh. Yep, that’s about it. Eh. I struggled with this book and felt at times like I wanted to just give up, but I had received a copy of it to read in exchange for a review, and I was determined to do it. (And no, I have NO CLUE where my spawn got their stubbornness from….) I didn’t HATE it…and I didn’t LOVE it. But over 200 pages of… “eh”.

“Sole Witness” is a romantic suspense penned by first-time author, Jenn Black – who also wrote a regency novel as Janet Black that released on the same day (October 2012). For a first go, it really wasn’t that bad; it was just that I kept thinking it could have been better if ______________________ blah blah blah.

Basic premise? Lori is an almost-witness to a murder but the psychotic murderess doesn’t realize she didn’t see her, so she begins killing people in her quest to kill Lori. Meanwhile, the detective assigned to the case is Lori’s first love (& lover) so there is the whole reunion thing going on, solving of past slights & hurts, etc… Throw in Lori’s inability to move forward after her sister’s death, phobias, a pregnant policewoman, a white-trash emotionally abusive mother, and it becomes a bit convoluted. We hear (constantly!) from the murderess and all the time in the back of my mind, I was thinking of the psycho killer from Eve Langlais’ F.U.C. series — and how her psychosis adds a bit of humor to the suspense. No humor in “Sole Witness”.

I don’t like panning new authors; but really, I would prefer to check in with this author once she has a few more books under her belt. The story was tedious. I think it would have added much more suspense if we, as readers, didn’t have the insight into the killer’s mind & actions, so that we were wondering right along with Lori & Davis HOW she was being found again & again by the killer… I also felt the whole “you ditched me for a cheerleader to marry her & ruined my life” was resolved & forgiven awfully quickly. (Must have been some REALLY great sex – that’s ALL I’m sayin’.)

If you need a read for places where you know you’ll be starting & stopping a lot, and you can pick this up from a friend or your library, go ahead & check it out. Or not.

Eh.
