Kate Blaise

This is a very interesting read. There does not seem to have been a time when Kate wasn't planning on entering the military. Her best friend and husband seems to have the same thoughts. They went to Korea together, came back to the States for a while and then was in at the beginning in Iraq. Kate was an officer while Mike was a CWO and had to salute her out in the open. He flew helicopters and she ran an operations center but they still managed to see each other while in Iraq. They were preparing to come home when the last day she was near Mosul, his helicopter went down.
This book is not political unless you call being a soldier who follows orders politicl. She emphasizes how each of them enjoyed their assignments. Kate recently entered the National Guard and may have had another tour in Iraq or Afganistan.
I liked this book because it wasn't a war story; rather, it was about two young people who were building their marriage while they fought a war.… (mehr)
