This mostly nonsensical, punny, and goofy story is perfect for kids. The rounded art style is also adorable.

Spring has arrived and Grizzle Grump is awake and very hungry! His big bear belly is very grumbly and he goes on a hunt to find food. Everywhere he goes, the food is snatched out of his grasp by other animals. He becomes a little grumpy until he gets a nice surprise at the end of the story. I would recommend this as a read aloud for a storytime or a group. The children will have fun going through the story and trying to help Grizzle Grump find food. It is a humorous story that children as well as adults will enjoy.

I thought Alex and George's friendship was not going to survive during the conclusion of the ABC attempt for the "Book of World Records", especially with George's relationship with his mom. But the beauty of childhood allows for no long time hurts and onto a new adventure. This book is fun in part of the facts and the story arch. Toward the end, I did not see the plot twist coming. Kudos to Aaron Blecha for the great picture of the cockroach and the last two pages of the story. It makes me look forward to reading the next adventure of George.

Hey! Who Stole the Toilet? by Nancy E. Krulik is the eighth of the George Brown, Class Clown series, and hopefully the only one I'll have to read (or listen to, as I was offered an audio book through the LibraryThing early readers program). George Brown is apparently cursed with evil burps which get him in trouble. This time they might meddle with his first over night camping trip.

George besides being plagued by nonsensical evil burps (maybe a slight of hand referral for ADHD?), he also has a female stalker. She's found a way to join the scouting troop so that she can go on the first camping trip which she imagines will be an incredibly romantic thing. Really? What second or third grader thinks about romance?

I don't know what these characters are like in print but the audio performance tries to give unique voices to each character. The voice given to the already annoying girl is enough to make paint peel. I really had to restrain myself from skipping through any scene where she has more than a couple of lines of dialog.

Hey! Who Stole the Toilet? reminds me of the books my second grade teacher would read to us. If we had been good in class before story time, we got a chance to hold her pet rosy boa snake. The snake petting was usually the highlight of story time as I wasn't a fan to these sort chapter books with ridiculous, oft times gross-out situations. Or they featured kids believing absolutely stupid crap. Like Flora in Flora & Ulysses, I've always been a bit of a cynic). For kids who like How to Eat Fried Worms, Freckle Juice, or similar will probably like the George Brown series too.

A character in the Katie Kazoo, Switcheroo series, George has now moved with his army family to a new town where he will have to start a new school. He decides it is time to reinvent himself, no longer waning to get into trouble as the class clown. He even changes his last name from Brennan to Brown, hoping to convince himself of the new and improved George. On his first day at Sugarman Elementary, while attempting to win over new friends without jokes, he discovers that at his new school they do weird things like square dance and play Killer Ball. After an unfortunate sneezing incident that lands him in the cafeteria during recess, George is happy when his mother suggests going to Ernie’s for an ice cream treat to celebrate his first day at his new school. But just as he was enjoying his root beer float, George lets out a burp so loud that it shakes the table! As everyone in the shop laughs, George can’t control himself and jumps on the table, sticking straws up his nose, as everyone cackles. Now, every time he burps, he can’t stop himself from performing silly pranks, which only leads to the one thing he was trying to avoid—trouble. This chapter book for early grades includes simple drawings to add to the humorous story. Though George is not a particularly original character, Younger readers will find him funny and will more than likely seek out the remainder of the series.

After book 11, this book is a huge disappointment. The author and illustrator attempt to discuss a subject kids encounter, lice. It does not go over well not for George or the reader. One bright spot is their is a new story line featuring Alex's mom. She makes her first appearance in book 11. Her second appearance means one thing-plot twist!! stay tuned.

I loved this book because it did not make George the story. I do not hate George. I thought that taking a running story line, Alex's ABC gum collection and making it a featured story was genius. I also like the focus they placed not on just Alex, but his family as well. If you know an African American child who likes science, or does not understand why science is cool, I highly recommend this book. It is a great back door introduction.

This book arrived on two CDs, and provided a great deal of entertainment in the car during a lengthy drive last week. The target audience is upper elementary, but our teenager enjoyed it immensely as well.

It is funny, well written, and very vivid. The narrator "voiced" the different characters, which added depth and helped us to readily identify who was speaking.

Highly recommended for any families with 3-5 graders in the house!

George and his friends are super excited about the camping trip they're going on with the Beaver Scouts near the Bahka Wahka Ocka River. One thing that George is worried about, though, is his magic burp, which seems to cause a lot of chaos whenever he releases it.

Turns out, though, that George has a lot more to worry about than just the burp...there's clueless Troop Leader Buttonwood, who is nearly inept in just about everything, and bully Louie and his cronies, Max and Mike, who can make life miserable and the Triple F (ferocious furry frog), the monster of myth who inhabits the campground. But, the most annoying part is the two new members of the troop, Sage and Julianna....ahh! Girls!

George Brown, Class Clown: Hey! Who Stole the Toilet? will have early readers howling with lots of potty humor! A great introduction for future fans of Captain Underpants and Big Nate and the ilk.

Thank you to LibraryThing Early Reviewers, Nancy Krulik, and Recorded Books for this copy. (less)

This audio book is exactly what the cover and the title loudly proclaim; this is a pie-in-your-face, body noises boy book. If you liked Captain Underpants....

Took several tries to get this one started. After I listened a while though and figured out who all the characters were, I found the story to be quite entertaining. The authors style and wit are sure to keep the intended audience coming back for more.
George Brown wants to make people laugh without getting him into trouble, but a wish brings unintended consequences. Can he learn to control his impulses? George learns that even bad things sometimes turn out better than expected.

George is back and this time he's going camping. My 7 year old loves it everytime the Super Burp rears it's ugly head. I'm less likely to giggle after this many installments of George. There are some cutesy parts that will make you giggle a little, which is the point of these books. It's just o.k. My 7 year old thinks you should read it.

"Hey! Who Stole the Toilet?" is the eighth book in the "George Brown, Class Clown" series of easy chapter books. George, his friends, classmates, and a couple of outsiders are going on a camping trip with their scouting troop. George fears that his "super-burp" and resulting wild behavior are going to get him in trouble. Can chewing his food more carefully prevent the "super-burp"?
Children will identify with the young characters in this series and enjoy the humor that real burps provide in this audiobook.½

We really enjoyed listening to this book. The kids (8 and 9) really loved the story - it made it much more fun to listen to it and the narrator did an excellent job. They loved how he did the different voices.
I think this was an excellent audiobook for young children and well worth listening to.

First off, I should start by saying that I received the audiobook version of this through the Library Thing Early Reviewers giveaway. The audio version was well read and entertaining to listen to. As a student teacher who works around first graders, I could see this easily entertaining many of my students. It is well read with sound effects, burps and all.

The story itself is decent, if very much aimed at young boys. It's burp humor will be sure to amuse boys 6 to 9. The story is cute and amusing, and made for an entertaining listen. George spends the story with his scout troop on his first camping trip, trying hard to earn badges. He burps his way through a rather amusing tale. It's for sure a story worth reading or listening to if you have young boys.

I received the audio version of this book through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program. The audio version, complete with the best burps you could ever imagine, does a great job telling this story of George, his crazy stomach, and his scout troop on their first camping trip. In between trying to earn badges and trying to keep his bouncing stomach under control, there are laughs every minute!

While it wasn't my favorite book ever, I imagine that a 7-9 year old boy would absolutely love it! The audio version not only lends itself to great listening, but adds to the story with sound effects. I would recommend this book to any reader who isn't quite ready for Diary of a Wimpy kid, or one who enjoyed the My Weird School series.

This is a treat. Two stories interlinked one. George wants a cure for his burp for Christmas. Yet his burp wrecks havoc throughout town. Some previous burp incidents reappear. Some previous burp targets occur as well. Like Three Burps, there is tension as the story progresses but the end takes a turn that the reader did not expect. You will smile at the end of the story.

What makes this story unique is how art is put into this story line. It is a treat to see how they play out in the quest for the elementary baseball championship stardom.

Fungi is not an appealing subject. But tie it in with the 5 senses and you have a great story on how the body is affected by the 5 senses. There is a bet involved and a game changer story line. I was heavily involved in this title. Very good story.

Louie is having a birthday and his mother has instructed him to invite everyone from his class to the party at the water park. That includes George. George and Alex try to correct the problem before Louie's party. Hint, the burp appears. Patience is a underlying story line that creates a great ending.

George learns how to camp. He has a bonding experience with his family learning how to camp. Louie is over the top as usual. Sage and Julianna and Sage are throughout the story, a rare treat and a great story line. George still has burp problems at the worst times but he comes out of it in a quirky ending.½
