What would you do if you were left with one other person in your city? Well, that's what the promise of this novel is.

This novel is about learning to work with someone you've never met before to solve problems and get to know each other better, which might lead to unexpected love. The conflict in this novel is that the two characters, Hannah and Leo, wake up one day and it is just the two of them left in the city and they don’t know if they are dead or in an apocalypse. The only way to find out is to search for answers but, if they don't find answers soon they might be separated forever. The conflict in this novel helps the two characters connect on a level neither of them has had before.

The main characters of this novel are Hannah and Leo. Hannah is the protagonist because she is the first one to wake up and find Leo in their empty city of Houston and she plays the biggest role between her and Leo. Nature is the antagonist of this novel because when Hannah and Leo are trying to search for answers it feels that nature is pushing against them and stopping them from finding answers to what's going on. Leo is also a main character of this novel because if he wasn't included the theme would be totally different and the connections between him and Hannah would not have been made.

This novel could be relatable for some people. Not in the sense of the apocalypse, but the part about the connection between two people that is unexpected. The main characters both bring out the other person's side of emotions that they've never portrayed before. Seeing the characters so close to someone who brings out the best in them made me happy. The characters never thought they needed a person like that until they met each other and realized they could be separated forever if they didn't find answers.

I recommend this novel because it keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you interested throughout the whole book. I usually get bored with books when I start reading them for a while, but this one felt different. I also liked that you could put yourself in the place that the characters were in and you could picture what was happening in your mind. Although it is all over the place at the start of the book, towards the end it gets fascinating and starts making more sense. So, if you like romantically mysterious books, you will most likely enjoy this novel.

In this beautifully emotional read, the characters capture your heart then rip it into pieces. This gave me a major book hangover and left me with tears in my eyes. What a perfect ending!

In this book, everyone finds out when they're going to die when they have a seizure at the exact half-way point of their individual life. Sixteen-year-old Flint knows he's about to die, so he returns to his hometown with his divorced parents to spend some last quality time together. When he meets September, the most alive person he's ever known, he can't stop spending time with her, but also can't bring himself to tell her the truth about his imminent death.

September's a girl on a mission. After a tragedy nearly destroyed her, she's found purpose through her internship at the Half-Life Institute. She's determined to find a cure so that someday, no one will have to lose someone like she did.

Flint's adorably grumpy, determined not to enjoy what he has left of his life and not to get close to anyone, so it doesn't hurt them when he leaves. September's bright, lively and hiding a wounded heart. Together, they're dynamite, and I loved their shifting dynamics as their secrets are revealed one by one.

This is a book with a heart of gold.

Romantic Escapism at its best !
Escapism is genuinely one of my favourite sub tropes under Romance and this book took it to new levels. To put it simply, " They met and the world around them literally disappeared"
With fantastic characters, punchy writing and a well turned plot , this book definitely earns it's 5 star rating !

I'm definitely hoping for a little more of Hannah and Leo in the future !

This book has a killer hook. Imagine waking up to an empty city. No people. That's what happens to Hannah, until she finds the only other person left in Houston. Leo, the gorgeous bad boy musician who she vaguely knows from school, but would never hang out with. Leo skips school, parties and has a new girl every week. Hannah only dates fellow ballet dancers because they understand that almost all of her time has to be spent practicing to be the best.

It may have taken an end-of-the-world-type event to bring them together, but they're great for each other. Leo encourages Hannah to let loose, and Hannah may actually teach Leo to have real feelings for someone. But first they need to figure out what happened to all the other people.

Bourne is an expert at the tease! This book has super hot chemistry for a ya novel. Leo and Hannah long for each other, but just as soon as they're about to finally explore all their feelings, something happens or one or the other pulls back. Multiple times. But they're so perfect together, that you're just rooting for them to get their act together and end up together, before it's too late. I don't want to spoil anything, but their world keeps getting stranger and stranger, and they both deal with that in different ways.

The pacing is perfection! Bourne takes the readers on a journey from love scene to creepy paranormal scene, giving you just enough to keep you fully invested in the romance and hooked on the mystery! This one is an instant favorite, and I can't believe it's her first book! I'll definitely buy whatever else this author writes.
