In the first place, I neglected to read the back cover carefully before buying this. This book is not about feminist theology. It is about Globalization through the viewpoint of feminism, and maybe theology. Since it is the theology aspect that interests me most, and globalization very little, it is not a good fit for me.
Also, a collection like this one lives from good editing. If the basics are set up at the front of the book, and the articles start from there, you can get very varied view of a subject. But if each writer is left to define the terms and explain general information, you read again and again what globalization is; what globalization does to third world women; how other writers (often the same ones) have characterised the problem... By the time you get to the part where the writer is actually talking about her particular issue, she has run out of steam and space. For what it's worth, each writer about a particular region of group is sure that the women there have it particularly hard.… (mehr)
