I have a pretty big pile of statistics books. I buy them because I certainly have no gift for statistics (or for math in general, really), but I need to use it. So I keep buying introductory books, in the hopes that one particular chapter will like the jungle that is my brain.

I've gotten more out of this book than probably any other stat text, with the possible exception of Gonick's "The cartoon guide to statistics." (Yes, I'll resort to any measure.)

It's a true chrestomathy; the exercises are built in to the text in a careful way. I can't imagine trying to get through it without doing the exercises. If you're a hands-on learner, this one is highly recommended.… (mehr)
