I NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD!! I enjoyed Lyn, a paranormal investigator and Sam a Greater demon that she saved from a huge demon because she thought Sam was a man, but now they are bound together and if she dies then he dies. Lyn and her best friend work together to teach tiny tots marital arts and Angie sees auras. Five girls that look like Lyn had marked their chests and committed suicide. Beside her great grand mother, Lyn is the last Daughter of Eve, but hasn't been trained how to kill demons, especially HUGE ones that attacked Sam! I CAN'T WAIT TO READ BOOK TWO.… (mehr)

Ema Marx is back for more in DARK BECOMING #3. Readers pick up precisely where Dark Liaison left off, a big A+ for continuity.
Every time Ema slams a door another one opens with the opportunities for success or failure carrying ever weightier consequences.

Ema’s world, her existence, is as convoluted as ever. Nothing is simple in a world peopled, loosely speaking, with vampires, vampyres, shifters, and other beings from myth and nightmare made flesh. Trust is a chronic issue. What motives hide behind those offers of assistance? Does everyone double-deal and double-cross. Is everyone self-serving or do some truly work for the better good?
Ema’s only constants are the Princes and their diagnostically opposed feelings regarding her.
The love between her and Jesu despite its potential to be detrimental to them and their cause. Could she let him go if it meant saving him?
Jalmari’s hatred and never ceasing efforts to rid the world of Ema. He’ll stop at nothing, including Jesu, to kill her.

DARK BECOMING is kicking; featuring machinations, double crosses, schemes, and action aplenty as Ema and her cohorts traverse the decaying glory of Venice and the wilds of South America in a contractual effort with the Aplan monarchy to destroy Apollyon before he brings hell on earth to life.
Will Ema and her motley force win the day? What damning secrets are revealed? Just when you think you have it pegged Ms. Brown throws a curve or two at readers keeping Ema fresh and unpredictable. Keeping me on my toes justifies the wait between books. Yep, still on board with Ema and waiting for #4.

Wow! J. D. Brown has created another book that you can’t put down. You can’t stop reading. You have to turn each page because you’re mesmerized by characters, descriptions and the action that is taking place. Sizzle, unexpected twists, action abound in the third Ema Marx book.
Jesu and Ema must find their way in their journey to end the terror of Jesu and Jalmari’s father. Ema knows that she’s not the “one” from Jesu’s premonitions and doubt fills her; doubts about her role in this fight, doubts about being pregnant, doubts about the love of her life. She’s got her hands full trying to figure out who to trust.
Dark Becoming leaves you hanging on. I hope it won’t be too long before Ema Marx book 4 comes out!

Athena's Oracle is a prequel to the Ema Marx series. J. D. Brown does it again, pulling the reader into the world of vampyres and the origins of Jalmari and Leena's relationship.
Throughout the series, Jalmari and Leena's story loomed in the background. Hints of how they met, hints about how long they'd been together. It made me curious and I was ready to see the story played out. I'm so glad that this installment in the series was created, because I must admit, I really didn't like Leena, and I wasn't too thrilled about Jalmari, but I knew there had to be something there for them to stay together for so very long.
This story pulled everything together. It changed my attitude toward's Leena (well, I'd sort of started to like her earlier) but this story showed her virtues. It changed my attitude about Jalmari, too. From the moment his mother was taken, my compassion for him grew, and it grew through his trials with his father and the other vampyres.
I really enjoyed this book, and I'm so glad that J. D. Brown opened my eyes to Leena and Jalmari's back story.
