The book is well made. As someone who likes to build out my library and set out interesting things to flip through on my coffee table, this fits the bill. However, as someone who is quite interested in cars and would possibly pursue what is in this book in the future, I have to wonder if this is too niche to be successful. With the number of Youtube videos that cover this and similar topics, I feel like more, and even better presented information is free and readily accessible, and the internet is where you will end up anyway when you inevitably hit a snag/anomaly during this process. At this point, with the amount of content that exists out there, it is quite possible you could find your exact truck and engine combo being swapped in a video that walks you through the process.
I still love this book visually, but when I'm ready to do the work, I'm not sure how much I would actually turn to it for instruction.

Great Reference!
Swapping an engine is a major undertaking, made much more challenging when you are changing technologies to something much more temperamental like a computer controlled engine. This book gives you the vendors and part numbers needed to put it all together and take the guess work out of it.

This performance how-to book is really upping the standards of technical manuals/how to books. Flow of information is great and readable for a hands on manual. Tons of color photos and a great layout! Highly recommended and way more useful than the past generation of generic black/white photo manuals ava

An excellent book. This swap is not something to be undertaken by the inexperienced, but this book will be essential to anyone doing the swap. The photos are great. They show exactly what the parts should look like and how to they fit together. This book is bound to say much time. Unfortunately, there often is more than one way to do something, and this book will show you the right way. There is a great chapter on wiring.
The book is essential if you are doing the swap, and fun to read if you are just daydreaming.

LS & LT Engines 1960 to 1998. I bid on and received a copy that I am giving my son-in-law who repairs cars and trucks from 1965 to 1970 and donates the proceeds to local canine rescue groups. But I scanned it first! It looks awesome! The pictures first of all are great and very instructive. Every chapter covers a different aspect of repair and swapping of engines. Accompanied by the photos I don't see how an at-home individual doing repairs/swaps could go wrong.

I received How to Swap LS & LT Engines into Chevy & GMC Trucks: 1960-1998 by Jefferson Bryant through the LibraryThing Early Reviewer's program. This book is a must have comprehensive guide for anyone considering an engine swap in an older Chevy truck. The author has decades of experience working on cars and swapping engines, in addition to having numerous articles published in automotive magazines and a number of books published previously on the topic.

This book is loaded with detailed, step-by-step instructions and hundreds of pertinent color photos of the steps. I truly felt my dismal lack of knowledge about car mechanics and regretted not having picked up more about working on cars years ago when I had the full opportunity to growing up on a farm with a full automotive shop that I was in often. However, that basic knowledge alone would not have helped me in these waters of complex computer software tuning and so many other facets of the classic truck and engine swapping scene that are an intricate science. Honestly, and I'm not being facetious in the least; the complexities of this subject could easily be worthy of a Ph.D. level of study. I felt like I had been washed down with a firehose of highly technical information, but I was glad to have read the book and become aware of what a vast field this is and get an idea of what's involved in this type of rebuilding.

In the process, I was able to glean quite a bit of information that was quite interesting even to the layperson who is not an expert automotive technicial or classic truck and car enthusiast. Things I had no idea of, and was glad to learn. (Just one example: who knew that you had to include the gas pedal with the old engine that you get at the junkyard!!??). But most of all I gained an appreciation for the amount of work involved, the intricate technical details and knowledge necessary and gained an immense respect for the author of this book! The book was very clearly laid out and well written and the numerous photographs help make it indispensible for someone about to embark on an engine swap of this nature. At the end of the book is a page of Resources that I believe will also prove invaluable for this project.

This is a true technical manual. It opens with a great review of the various LS & LT generations of engine that GM has manufactured. Subsequent chapters deal with the modifications needed to install these engines into Chevrolet trucks built between 1960-1998. The modifications required are extensive and often include a good deal of specialized math and a variety of specialty tools. It seems unlikely that any of this work could be accomplished without access to a well stocked shop. With that caveat I would recommend this excellent work, with its many illustrations and tips, to anyone considering an engine swap.

It was very well written. The book had high quality pictures and instructions that were clear and concise. Nearly step-by-step instructions were obviously well researched, so if you decide to swap out your engine, you'll be able to do it quickly and accurately using this book as a guide.

This is a very good book for putting a LS engine into 64-72 GM A-body. It could have gone farther with the information on using a carbureted engine and their options, but that is for another book on carbureted conversions.
This manual was also very good with the wiring schematics, with extremely clear photos and charts. The pictures are clear and precise, and show what the author means to convey in an easy to process manner.
It is very informative even if you have done a swap before. It describes what works and doesn't work to avoid those rookie mistakes.
The author could have spent more time on the accessory drive of the truck engines, as they do for the most part fit under the hoods of A-bodies ( and may be a better fit for some people ).

When I received this book I started to read it. It was very well written. The book had great pictures and instructions that any one could understand. I having no knowledge of automotive repair made it understandable. This author did an incredible job..i look forward to other manuals. This is the first one I did read and not feel lost in translation

As is standard with Workbench How-To by SA this manual is very easy to follow and does a superior job explaining each step of the process including call-out boxes, specification charts, and tons of good pictures. The pages aren't as "plastic" feeling as earlier books but still feel somewhat durable.
