This book provides a list of Japanese festivals by calendar order. Each entry provides illustrations of clothing, masks, musical instruments, floats, and other items used. It gives the Japanese term for each as well. It does not give a lot of detail about each festival and its origins because of size limitations, but it serves as a good quick reference.

An EXCELLENT illustrated guide book to influential persons in Japan. Concise, yet very helpful passages and notes. Not deeply detailed, but enough to engage and interest any reader. My homestay mother gave me this book when I was an exchange student in Japan in 1989. It enthralled me. I truly learned quite a bit. Highly recommended.
