3261. Passing the Keys: Modern Cardinals, Conclaves, and the Election of the Next Pope. by Francis A. Burkle-Young (read Oct 29, 1999) This book was published this year and most of it was super-interesting to me. The early chapters, full of iinformation on past papal elections are short of footnotes, and one wonders where he got all the information he passes out as gospel. He tells who he says will be the next Pope (Carlo Maria Martini), but he also says the next conclave will be this year, and that may not be true since there is not much left of this year. 3287. The Life of Innocenzo Del Monte: A Study in Scarlet, Together with Materials for a History of the House of Ciocchio del Monte San Savino, by Francis A. Burkle-Young and Michael Leopoldo Doerrer (read 20 Jan 2000) This book was read because I so enjoyed Burkle-Young's Passing the Keys, read in October 1999. 3369. Papal Elections in the Age of Transition 1878-1922, by Francis A. Burkle-Young (read Nov. 18, 2000) This is a fascinating and enthralling book, studying the papal elections from 1800 to 1922, with concentration on the 1878, 1903, 1914, and 1922 conclaves. It is loaded with extremely fascinating details about the Cardinals and Popes from 1800 to 1922. I cannot remember an easier-reading book, and it was certainly the highlight of my November reading.
