Dead Dwarves Don't Dance von Derek J. Canyon

I just couldn't get into this. The thriller plot didn't rivet me. I didn't like or even care about the characters. The attempt to make fantasy themes technology-based seemed forced. It felt like there was just too much thrown in for Cool Factor.

I ended up bailing after about half the book and jumping to the ending...which didn't change my opinion.

A dystopian future mixture of gangs, genetic modifications, gritty detective and a bit of romance. The story gets you from one end, to the other, and is fairly well written. Good perspective from both the 'gangsters' (who you can almost support as underdogs) and the dwarf that pursues them.

Rated a 3, as a good one time read ('4' I could read again and '5' again and again.)

Dwarf pursues the mercenaries who were hired to stage a terrorist attack on a Neohuman nightclub.

Why I picked it up: Fantasy noir. Thought it would be more like S. Andrew Swann's work.

Why I finished it: I honestly don't know. It was short? I thought it might get better?

I'd give it to: A filmmaker looking to develop properties for rel="nofollow" target="_top">actors with dwarfism.… (mehr)
