Passion, confusion, doubt, hope, revenge, betrayal, loyalty but above all compassion and love wins the day.

This is the last and final book of the Witchling Academy Series. The story begins where the last ended. Our heroine, Belle, finds herself whisked away again. She is captured by the Formorian King and released with confused and disjointed memories. She must fight through confusion, sift through the untruths, and misinformation and save not only earth but also the fae realm.
Great ending.… (mehr)

When the High King of the Fae finally finds his Hogan witch, he discovers the magic that has been missing from Faery all this time hiding in the body of an enchanting Hogan witch.

When Belle Hogan ends up in the proverbial lap of the Fae king she had been hiding from her entire life, she discovers how much they need to learn, and how much she needs to teach.

Now they discover things about magic they wish they had known before. This war may have ended a very long time ago had the Hogan witches upheld their bargain.

But, they know now, and they are learning new things every day. Some of the things they are learning are astounding them. Some of the things they are learning about their enemy are the most astounding of all.

In the final book of the Witchling Academy, DD Chance ties it all together beautifully, such neat little bows that leave us knowing we have discovered all the truths we've been waiting for in a totally satisfactory manner. No loose ends here! And yet, it still feels as if, should she choose to do so in the future, she could give us more books about any one of the myriad of characters she created. What an imagination she let loose in this wonderful universe of magical academies, and all the amazing realms of the beautiful world of Faery.

And, be ready all you fans of our lady who fancies herself DD Chance here, but who we know to be someone else entirely! You'll be shrieking in excitement when you hit all the Easter eggs dropped all over this final book! I was so excited I was like a little kid on Easter morning with that backyard full of hidden eggs just waiting for me to find them! What a treat it was to find all these little surprises. What fun she must have had writing them!

You did a beautiful job with these Academy series, DD Chance. I loved every one, and this final one the most! That you included my favorite fantasy creature toward the end, and that you made your last line perfectly less mushy makes me want to just hug the stuffing out of you! You knocked this one out of the park, DD, and you should be very proud of yourself! I know I am!

Excellently done, DD Chance! Excellently done, indeed! I'm going to miss everyone in this universe. Guess I'll have to revisit regularly just to say hi to all of my Academy buds!

“Taming the King” is the conclusion to “Witchling Academy” Trilogy by D.D Chance, her third series set “Boston Magic Academy” world (After “Twyst Academy” and “Monster Hunter Academy”). The series have everything I love in academy and classical slow approach to romance.

“I need a wife” was about the last sentence Belle was expected to hear for teaching magic to Aiden, but Belle would do anything the keep her won people safe, anything… even marrying the most infuriating, presumptuous, and full of himself High King of the Fae, but every single time you make your peace with fate, fate has new ideas, such as the King of the Fomorians kidnapping you to his own realm to make you his bride. And suddenly marrying a Fae King doesn’t seem like such a horrible idea 😉 except… when that pertinent Fae King has a visceral reaction to the situation and starts a war. And once again is up to Belle to save not only her own, but everyone else even against their own wishes, using every last drop of her magic and calling on every imaginable favor. The final to the trilogy is a non-stop action run to save the realms, while trying to keep the king from each other’s throats.

Belle and Aidan have chemistry to fill a gigantic magic grimoire, Belle is credible, relatable, and fun, fun, fun and His Majesty, the High King of the Fae Aidan the most entertaining Fae TDHD (tall, dark, handsome, with a side of deadly) ever to graze the pages of YA Academy and the King of the Fomorians – despite his dark nature – follows not so far behind.

I have already disclosed in various previous reviews that I’m a huge fan of D.D. Chance writing, by any of her various pen-name incarnations. She writes it, I read it 😊, and never ever have I been disappointed in the least!! Her writing style is unique, a mixture of hardcore adventure and whimsicality, that makes the book simultaneously light and surprisingly deep, with characters that show very real-life qualities in seemingly fantasy situations, an impeccable delivery, action-packed, fast-paced, and still with a carefully character description and a rich rendered YA/NA paranormal fantasy world. Chance possesses a rare gift for storytelling that turns every story into a reader’s delight. While there is not strictly necessary to be acquainted with any of the previous series in “Boston Magic Academy” cycle to enjoy “Witching Academy”, which I will recommend nevertheless, to any reader that due to unknown circumstances have been enjoyed any ‘prolonged stay under some rock’, in a way I envy them for being able to enjoy the previous two series with fresh eyes… except…well no, as any reader can enjoy them anew (once and again)… thus.. win/win for everyone 😊

I loved book one (Teaching the King), meeting Aiden and learning more about the Hogan witches and what their connection was to the Fae. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Belle try to figure out what her family neglected to tell her and seeing her play catch-up to a newly crowned fae High King. And whoa, Aiden? Oh yeah, hot!

But, now? The action is just non-stop! I love every minute of it! Seriously, Belle and Aiden are having a terrible time figuring out everything needed to fight off the old but strangely unrecognizable enemy of Faerie. They are watching entire groups of Fae be killed and are scrambling, trying desperately to get a handle on saving those remaining. Only, no one left either Belle or Aiden any instructions! And poor Aiden, trying so hard to do the right thing, knowing that his father was not a nice guy and not wanting to follow in his footsteps. But he also doesn't want to lose Belle in the process. It's a harrowing tale and told so well!

DD Chance, a pen name for an author I have loved for years (we all know who she is!), is a great storyteller no matter what genre she chooses. This particular subgenre of paranormal academies, basically college kids with powers given whatever twists the author chooses, was fun when she started with Twyst, followed by Monster Hunters. But now, with Witchling, she has moved on from her "why choose" baseline. We now have a male/female storyline with characters we can follow from book to book while quietly tying in the first two series. She gave us a flowing story that grabs us as we delve deeper and deeper while sitting on the edge of our seats, anxious to see where it will go. Mystery and action, hand in hand. I'm loving every minute of it! Add in a moving love story, and DD Chance is giving us everything we could ask for. I'm now just patiently (or maybe not so patiently!) waiting for book three.

So excellently done, DD Chance! So excellently done indeed! You are a true wordsmith no matter what you write!
