I enjoyed this romance. Although the heroine was a little different, it turned out well. I bought this at a library sale, and I voluntarily chose to review this. Although this heroine is street smart, she doesn't do well in gatherings. I've given this a 4.5* rating and this is not for the under 18 readers. While the hero seems to not want to get married, things change, along with maybe growing up along the way. This is an older but still a nice read.

Randall On The Run (Brides for Brothers, #13)
by Judy Christenberry
File Size: 489 KB
Print Length: 256 pages

Jess Randall (Jessica) was done with Hollywood and going home to her family ranch in Rawhide, Wyoming. She's backing out of her driveway and hears gun shoots, then she sees an injured man laying in the alley. He tells her that he is undercover DEA agent and that his partners where trying to kill him.
Steve Carter had no idea how high up the corruption went, but he knew how desperate the rogue agents were.

Eh. Mildly interesting to read, but the characters don't have much depth - Sarah keeps switching between a fiery do-er and completely passive. Admittedly, she's passive when things she likes are happening, but if she really believed what she says she does she should have been out of there in short order. And Brad pretty much did the same - either he was all over her (which is why she should have been out of there) or he wouldn't even look at her. Sketchy plot, convenient timing on every event, no one ever doubted what anyone said (even when they should have)...I'm not entirely sorry I read it, but really not a winner. I need to read my other book by this author to decide if this is a good or a bad example of her work - if the former, I won't be reading any more by her.

She needed a husband, so she could adopt her late sister's children and keep them out of the clutches of the jailbird father. He needed a housekeeper and cook, so he agrees to the marriage in name only, which of course doesn’t last.

Father Lord please give me a secure woman to read about! that's all I can say!

Like why can't she be less whiny?? Is that too much to ask? And a more secure man! Their baggage was exhausting!

Was kind of sad I didn't get more of an update on [b:Daddy Next Door|741274|Daddy Next Door|Judy Christenberry|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1177900591s/741274.jpg|727440] Would have been nice to catch up with the characters!

A nice holiday story with a pretty good plot but the romance was very slow to start and the heroine total over-reaction was pretty much the gist of the relationship. Penny hires Jake to be her ranch manager.

rabck from bookstogive; part of a series about triplets. Tabitha's friend needs a fill in publicist to escort a writer on tour. Dr. Alex wrote a book about love, but didn't mention that his wife is now deceased. Everyone on the tour assumes that she's "Jenny". While on tour, Alex realizes that he's doing himself a disservice by holding on to Jenny, especially when Tabitha catches his eye.

I've read this author before, so I kept looking for the redeeming quality in this bookall the way until the end. Prodigal daughter, kept away from Dad by her bitter mother, returns to the ranch after her mother'd death. Dad has hired a dashing ranch hand. Daughter returns to the ranch with open arms, and the hired ranch hand comes around to accepting her, no questions asked, and asking her to marry him. And, oh by the way, the daughter just tosses off a remark to Dad that the housekeeper has been in love with him for twenty-six years, so he marries her. But the housekeeper is now 43 and after marriage - surprise! She's pregnant. Do the math - I guess she was hired to be the housekeeper and raise the baby before Mom took off with her when she was 17?

Very good book. All Melissa wanted from the bachelor she bought was for him to model for her line of greeting cards and watch her daughter one morning so she can sleep in. Russ showed up expecting that she wanted the kind of fancy date that other women wanted. Both of them got more than they expected.

Melissa had lost her fiance shortly before their wedding and was raising their daughter by herself. She loves being a mother but there are days when she really love to have someone around to help her. When she had originally bid on Russ at the bachelor auction, it was to seek his help for her business. Now she'd be happy with a couple hours of extra sleep one morning. Her initial impression of Russ leads her to believe that won't happen. He is obviously not someone comfortable around children and has no clue what to do. She's ready to cancel the whole idea, but Russ insists on carrying through with it. She is surprised by his willingness to learn, and even more by Mandy's acceptance of him. She's disturbed by her own reaction to him as she never expected that another man would appeal to her. Melissa spends a lot of time fighting her feelings for Russ. She goes from fighting everything he wants to do for her to total acceptance by the end of the weekend, but is sure that there's no future in it. I really enjoyed the photo shoot that did with Russ and the effect it had on both of them. Melissa has to decide if she can open her heart to the risks of loving again.

Russ came to Wyoming expecting to take Melissa on a fancy date. His flight had been terrible, with a crying baby right next to him, and he arrived in a less than pleasant mood. When he discovered that Melissa wanted his help with Mandy he was surprised and very nervous. He'd never been around kids and had no clue what to do. Once he'd recovered from the flight he was interested in doing as she'd requested. I loved seeing the way that Russ jumped in and took care of Mandy. He was so sweet in the way that he wanted to give Melissa her wish. I loved the way that Mandy found her way into his heart. It was great fun seeing just how much he enjoyed doing things with her. He also found that he was falling for Melissa. Being around her made him realize that the life he had in Chicago wasn't as satisfying as it used to be and that he'd really like more. He also discovered that seeing everything she was going through as a single mother changed the way he looked at his own past and the way his mother left him at the boys' ranch. I really loved the difference that made in his own attitude and what he did about it. I also loved the way that he didn't give up on Melissa and went after what he really wanted.

oy. pretty dated, and the big misunderstanding a little too frustrating to enjoy. i had picked up the whole maitland maternity continuity, but they'd been sitting on the shelves unread until my husband teased me about the title to this one so i read it this morning.

This reads like a 12th grader's fan fiction (but with better grammar). The writing is juvenile, as is the dialogue which is also incredibly stilted. I swear I've seen over exaggerated robot movies that have felt more human than these characters. Half the time it didn't appear as though the characters were even in the same conversation. Especially the two primary characters, Brad and Sarah. She made up entire conversations between the two as reasons why he wouldn't be interested in her, meanwhile all he did was show her physically and verbally that he wanted to be with her ("Why do you think I've been kissing you?" "Because I'm the hired help." What? Idiot). (At the beginning of the book he points out it will be difficult to raise two kids alone, and she spends the rest of the book claiming that with this statement he made it very clear that he wants absolutely nothing to do with her and isn't even attracted to her. None of his actions or words swayed her from this position.) She's 24 and the nine-year-old character was more intelligent. No matter what anyone said to her she thought and maintained the opposite until everyone in the room practically had to yell it at her (though that didn't always cut it either). There was no chemistry between Brad and Sarah and really no evolution in their relationship until suddenly he's asking her to marry him in the last few pages. The entire premise of the book was nonsensical and it basically jumped from unlikely situation to even more unlikely situation in a very stiff and disjointed way as if to kill time until we could get to the point. It truly felt like reading an outline. It's not like I have great expectations for this type of Harlequin book, but even still this was frustrating.

In Christenberry’s romance novel, Jenny has memories of her father but now is determined to find him. But Jason Welborn, her father’s business partner, stands in her way. Jason is convinced that Jenny just wants what she can get her hands on before heading back to the city. Determined to win him over, Jenny stands her ground until she finally starts making headway with him. But can he trust that she’ll stay or will she be here today and gone tomorrow?

A solid contribution to the Cowboy at Heart series.

In Christenberry’s romance novel, Pete Ledbetter is forced to seek out his own bride once his grandfather decides to find a wife for him. Pete doesn’t have to look very far for help than his own staff. After a brief romance, he was more than positive he was compatible with chef Mary Jo Michaels. Unfortunately, their breakup wasn’t easy and he knew he would need to be very convincing to get her to play decoy for him.

Mary Jo loved the Lazy L. Since her failed romance with Pete, she was hurt and tender and uncertain she could trust him again.

A good Cowboy at Heart love story.

In Christenberry’s romance novel, Hank Ledbetter’s bachelor status stands out as legendary in Colorado with every member of his family finding true love except him. And then the arrival of Andrea Jacobs to the Lazy L cattle and dude ranch seems like fate just might be testing him.

Andrea brings a secret with her to the ranch and wasn’t looking for involvement of any kind. But surrounded by newly wedded friends and holiday cheer, she can’t help but entertain the idea of a cowboy husband for Christmas!

A good Cowboy at Heart romance.

Really stupid writing. Characters supposed to be in their mid-twenties, talk like 15-year olds. The story makes no sense. Sally is an idiot. We're supposed to feel sorry for her because her parents died and Hunter tiptoes around the issue constantly so as not to hurt her feelings, and then Sally gives him a pair of her father's boots saying, "well he's not going to be wearing them anymore". This book could have been written by a 15 year old.
