I Picked Up This Book Because: I adored the last series I read by this author and the library uploaded a ton of others.

The Characters:

Luke Roberts: KPD SWAT Officer, Gear head, badass single dad
Reese Doherty: School nurse, kick ass mom and woman in general
Their daughters(of course I can not remember their names *facepalm*)

The Story:

As the story starts we are thrown into a medical emergency at school involving Luke’s daughter and an Epi pen. It’s scary right off the bat. So of course that means super dad Luke is on the scene pretty quickly. Being the school nurse he quickly encounters Reese and though their first meeting is tense the chemistry can not be ignored. Luke and Reese pretty much have it from day one. I like them together. I love that their girls get along.

Some of the book confused me. It’s like it may have been poorly edited or abridged. People would be in one place then suddenly across the room without mention of movement or when Reese’s one night stand baby daddy suddenly became her ex-husband. It was just enough to take me out of the flow of the story which bothers me. I also had some feelings about the shooting Luke was involved in, I’m just not sure what they are.

Overall I enjoyed the book. And I will continue the series.

C.J. Bloom and Jeremy York did an excellent job. If I’m remembering correctly they did all of the Freebirds books and I see why they keep being invited back to do more. Excellent job.
