Gloria Clifton

Gloria Clifton, PhD, works at the National Maritime Museum, London, UK, as Head of the Royal Observatory Greenwich and Curator of Scientific Instruments. Her major publication was the Directory of British Scientific Instrument Makers c. 1550–1851 (Lon don, 1995), which was based on the SIMON project, set up by Professor G. L’E Turner of Imperial College, London, to research the scientific instrument making trade in the British Isles. She is also a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.
