I read this for my daughter, who loves the reality show genre, including the show Lauren Conrad was (is?) on. I didn't expect much from this book at all and so was surprised to find it such a page turner. Unsurprisingly the writing is not strong (lots of trite phrases and images), but it does provide an interesting and engaging behind-the-scenes look at this strange reality series phenomenon.

Jane and Scarlett are on a popular reality TV show. At first they loved going to the parities and getting some more cash. Trever the producer has started to control his characters.
Jane must decide if Braden (the guy she loves) or Caleb (an old boyfriend) is right for her. Scarlett is having problems with her boyfriend Liam, Naveen an old college friend is seen as her 'new boyfriend' on the show. What can dhe tell Liam to convince him she has no feelings for Naveen?
Madison is having tons of family issues. After an unexpected visit from her past, how will Scarlett mantain her perfect image?
A great final book to this series. I loved the storyline and the plot.

As The Hills is one of my many guilty pleasures, I thought it would be fun to pick up Lauren Conrad's first book. It is equally as ridiculous, and full of fluff, great for relaxing and emptying the mind. It's been a rough week for me, so this series has provided the escape I've needed.

In Style, celebrity TV star, fashion designer, and writer Lauren Conrad shares her secrets to mastering fashion and style. In the first section, Fashion, she discusses how to create a wardrobe, shop for clothes, clean out your closet, accessorize, and dress for different occasions. In the second section, Beauty, she discusses tips for makeup and hair. In the final section, Lifestyle, she shares tips for work style, potential packing lists for a variety of types of travel, and how to dress for events and parties. Throughout the book, there are pictures and quotes to help reinforce the information in the text.

This is a useful book for people who are interested in learning how to create their own style. Of course no book can capture all style needs from body and hair type to race, but Conrad tries to incorporate a lot of information that will work for a variety of people. The most frustrating part of the book is that she assumes that the reader, like her, will have plenty of money for makeup, clothes, and to take things to the tailor, but girls without monetary resources will still likely find something useful in the book if they are looking for ideas on how to create their own look. A lot of the tips are common sense, so it will be most useful to girls who are just beginning to assemble wardrobes and wear makeup. From tips like how to find the perfect pair of jeans to how to pose for pictures, this book will offer a lot for those who are looking for a jump start into the world of fashion and style.

Knowing that the characters would all go on after the ridiculous drama of their television lives made reading this book a lot more reassuring, because I could focus on how they would change their lives to get to the finale rather than focus on how they would survive the drama. Change is really the major theme of the series, as all of the girls have to grow up and start being more in control of their own lives so that they can be happy. In that sense the books can actually be rather motivational for young girls because it shows them that if they have goals and work hard they can get exactly what they want. Surprising, I know, considering that most analyses would peg the series as vapid and insubstantial, but if you look at something from the right perspective you can learn something new.

After reading so many historical books lately I needed a bit of a mental break, and this book totally filled my need for some chick-lit. Having watched The Hills so many times a lot of the plot points were familiar, but Conrad blended characters and swapped situations enough that I had fun trying to match characters/situations in the book to those in the tv show. It was a bit surprising that she gave Jane the complicated relationship (when in reality it was Heidi and Spencer), because for the most part it's clear that Jane is supposed to be Lauren and not Heidi. Maybe writing from her real-life frenemy's point of view was a way of trying to understand all of the drama that happened in real life to break up their friendship.

Conrad takes a slightly different approach to the second novel in the L.A. Candy series when she breaks away from the plot line similarities of the Hills. We see a lot more backstory from Madison as many more of the chapters follow her as she tries to sabotage Jane's life and tv career. I'm curious to know who she really is, since it's become clear that she is not really the heiress who she pretends to be and all her money comes from an older married sugar daddy.

Now that Scarlett and Jane are back to being BFFs (and all toxic men are out of their lives) I wonder whether they'll stay on the show. Jane likely will, but Scarlett doesn't seem to like it at all.

Even though Conrad's style advice is nothing relaly new, I enjoyed reading this book. The best part was the helpful packing lists that she compiled, since it is often a challenge to "pack smart."

Yes, I read it and yes, it was entertaining. Am I slightly embarrassed? Perhaps. Will I read the other 2 books in the trilogy? Most likely.

First things first, I'm a fat girl and I wasn't offended by this book.

I had read some reviews and everyone seems to think that the information is only for skinny people. I get it, but it's not. It's just full of basic information about clothing and makeup. Nothing in here is specifically not for a fat girl. The tips she offers still applies.

I had no problem with this book. It's easy to read, nicely laid out and I like the pictures. It's alright.

After trying to read it and failing after the first 50 pages, I downloaded the audio book to try again. Lauren Conrad actually narrates it...needless to say I didn't finish this book and likely never will.

I bought this copy at LC's book signing at Barnes & Noble in Garden City close to Roosevelt Mall. The location is a decent-size book store. There was a line of young girls waiting for their books to be signed. After a little wait, LC appeared at the table to sign. Go LC! She has become a media mogul since her reality TV series "Laguna Beach," and "The Hills," days on MTV, parlaying that to sell #1 New York Times Best Sellers and creating her own fashion line and merchandise. What I noticed about her was she looked everyone in the eye, and said "hi." I asked her what curling iron she uses because I liked her hairstyle back then.
If you related to her during her reality TV series days, you will enjoy reading her book. LC is a relatable girl that every girl in her teens and early twenties can relate to.

Meh, the drama from the last book plays out and honestly it's kind of dull. Huge letdown. Then everything wraps up nicely. This book really doesn't read all that well, because it's kind of slow moving. I think I may just give up on reading Lauren Conrad's books. She should stick to style and fashion.

The basic idea isn't so bad, but the execution is slow moving and the writing sub-par. Now Lauren doesn't have any formal training in English and writing isn't known as her thing so I'm not completely surprised. On that note for a debut novel it isn't awful, I just don't think it would have done quite as well as it did were it not for her name being on the cover.

I'm hoping that as she continues to write the story will improve and I will feel more inclined to continue reading.

Admittedly this is better than Lauren's debut novel. She does a really good job at adding just enough twists and turns. All of a sudden there is some drama, which is just enough to make me pick up the final book in the series. To be perfectly honest though, I really don't connect with or care about any of these characters which is no bueno. I really think I'm giving three stars out of sympathy.

Lauren's writing abilities have noticeably increased since her first novel. I wouldn't say I loved this story but I did find myself much more entertained than I did with the prior novels. I actually think I would like to read the next installment.

Last summer I actually enjoyed the first book of the Fame Games series. It was a good poolside read that required next to no concentration. I had decided I would read the next book and just now got around to it. Honestly, I wasn't missing much. This book really lacked substance and plot. (Two important elements to a good book.) If you enjoyed watching The Hills just to veg out, then you will probably enjoy this book because they are similar in the sense that really nothing happens. I think I'm done reading these books. Well, until I find myself wanting another poolside read, requiring zero concentration.

When nineteen-year-old Jane Roberts is cast in a new reality show, she discovers that the fame and fortune of her new life come at a high price to herself and her friendships.

I'm a huge Lauren Conrad fan, so this book is just right for me, I LOVE anything with her name on it!

I felt as if Lauren wrote her own biography of sorts, but if you watched The Hills, you will be surprised to see that Jane is more like Heidi then Lauren, Baby face, wants to organize parties and events, and her BFF is so much hotter than Lo, more like Audrina.

I heard Lauren say once that Jane was inspired by her, Scarlett by Lo, Madison by Heidi, Gaby by Audrina and Hannah by Whitney. But in all truth I don't see it this way at all.

The book is very good, I was putting it off for other books but in two days of reading here and there I think I might finish it tonight. It's this good.

[Saturday, ‎January ‎05, ‎2013] Lauren Conrad is among my favorite beauty icons, I really like her and I love her style, she is close to the heart, simple, happy and beautiful. I always feel happy when I see her. She loves to use eyeliner like I do, she loves to look good but natural and she loves stylish comfy clothes. She is colorful and healthy. This book reflects all that.
