Margo Cullen

A very interesting biography of a man who started his design career on a 10-shilling bet in 1960. A friend suggested that he couldn't knit a jumper in a week. He won the bet and became interested in knitting and continued, finding a niche for himself outside the civil service and in design.

It's an interesting book, with an interesting character at the core. Interspersed are patterns and many photographs (some of which repeat) of his work. Written by his daughter it both does and doesn't illuminate his life and works. There's quite a gap during the 1990's and 2000 particularly for his knitwear design, although it is alluded to in the text.
