There we go. Nice, short, sweet and hot story. Chubby heroine whose family has made her insecure about her weight. She can't believe the gorgeous hero is into her, he shows her she is beautiful. This little formula is one of my favorites.

Is there anything sexier than a former Marine with a gorgeous body? Gavin is many women’s idea of the perfect man and to Savannah he is all hers. The characters of this story are strong yet vulnerable and compliment each other quite well. I love the fact that Savannah has kept a vow she made a long time ago and tells Gavin about it up front which kind of blows him away and makes him want her even more. I recommend this story to everyone because they will not be disappointed at all. Overall, a great book that I will read again and again.

If there’s anything I wanted from this story, it was a little more of it. Having said that, I did go into this without knowing that it was short story. I was expecting a novel, so perhaps that’s why I felt that way. I enjoyed what I read. I just wanted a little bit more of it.

First of all, I love the whole cowboy and riding broncos thing. It’s what really got me interested in reading the story to begin with. It was nice to read something very different from the usual. I’m still a newbie with whole erotic romance genre, but I try not to compare books when I review them anyway. The bottom line with this one is that I liked the story. It was a good basic plot. Part of my wish that it had been longer stems from the fact that I wanted to know the characters a little more. They’re interesting and I’d love to know more about them. The sex was very steamy, and I would caution anyone who doesn’t like to read explicit sex scenes to skip this one. Otherwise, it’s a good read. I may have to check out more of Becca Dale’s stories.

I have to say, this was a pretty good read, as it had a fast pace and it kept my attention throughout the story. I liked the character, Savannah. She was flawed and had insecurities but she was a likable character. I had an on-again off-again like for Gavin, the male protagonist. The guy on the book cover was a good match for Gavin. Hot.

I loved the moment that these two characters met and I was intrigued enough to finish the story. I had a hard time liking Gavin the more that I got to know him. He had this push/pull thing happening with Savannah that I didn't like. He would push her away emotionally but then pull her towards him again when she would pull back emotionally. I would have liked their relationship dynamics to have been fleshed out a bit more to have a better understanding of what Gavin went through. I thought that some of the things that the author had Gavin do or say weren't true to his character and it presented him in a negative light. I thought that he redeemed himself toward the end of the story though. The sex scenes were pretty intense and the intimacy between these two characters was fast. Knowing this, it made the decisions that they made make more sense. The secondary characters were just as vivid as the main characters. I really liked Gavin's sister and her new husband and they, too, made a lasting impression on me.

There isn't a whole lot to this little e-book quickie. In a nutshell, it is the story of a battered woman's brief respite from her abuser, who is presumably her husband or at least a man with whom she is in a serious, long-term relationship. The bulk of the pages are taken up by a steamy love scene between the woman, Jenna, and a mysterious stranger she meets in the woods by her home, but I wouldn't characterize it as erotic. Normally, I would be off-put by the fact that Jenna is cheating even though on some level one might say that it is justified considering how she'd been treated, but I can't say that I had particularly strong feelings about it one way or the other. There just wasn't enough depth to the characterizations and story to make me become emotionally invested in the outcome. While some may disagree with me, I also felt like there was a small degree of ambiguity as to whether Jenna was actually experiencing the incident first-hand or perhaps as the title suggests was simply fantasizing. I might argue as well, that this technically wasn't romance due to the lack of an HEA ending. It was very much left open to the reader's imagination. Overall, the writing itself was pretty solid. It was also free and a very quick read that only took a few minutes of my time, so even though Woodland Fantasy was just OK for me, I didn't exactly feel like it was a waste of time. This novella is available as a free download from All Romance eBooks.
