This book is not one that your read in one sitting, from cover to cover.
It is a book to leaf through, to read, put away, read a bit again and then say I'm done with it.

I've done that. The introduction is interesting and gives a good idea of how and why the expressions were collected and what the criteria were to include them in this book or not.
I think I might just send the author (like he requested) one or two of the 'home language' expressions we use, for the next book that will be issued. Maybe they'll be used :-)
It is a nice book. I've seen interesting expressions, new ones, ones I know and even one we use too. I won't even try to translate, because that would get me nowhere. Wouldn't be funny and would completely miss the point.

But, if you like languages and there's a book like this for your language, I recommend you leaf through it. You never know what you find :-)

Soms vermakelijke columns en soms beetje vergezochte verhalen van iemand die zich blijkbaar graag hoort vertellen. Maar onthoud: niet elk verhaal is grappig, vermakelijk of constructief, alleen maar omdat een paar kreten, motieven, woorden of ideeën bij elkaar te lijken horen... Wel een handig boekje voor in de trein en op de plee.
