Not finishing this one, which is extremely rare for me. Thought this might be a fun guilty pleasure, but it's not meant to be. It seemed more like a un-proofed draft. Sharknado ridiculous, which is fun on-screen, but not so much on paper, and so many technical issues. Not so much typos, though they were quite frequent, but sentences where words that should have been there in order for the sentence to read well, or make sense, were missing. I mean a boatload, not just a few. I just wasn't enjoying it, even on the level I wanted to enjoy it. Too bad, because I was ready for a big old Yeti and some people doing stupid things, but just not worth wasting any more of my time on this one.… (mehr)

A surprisingly decent attempt to put a Kaiju story into printed form. The plot is thankfully pretty basic - one of the last humans sets out to destroy the great Kaiju plaguing North America by luring them in his mech and pitting them against each other. The main Kaiju themselves are perfect and include a giant amoeba, a huge colony of giant ants, a giant atomic snapping turtle, a towering mutated sumo wrestler, a mutated ogre, a massive Gila Monster and of course the indomitable Atomic T-Rex of the title. Battles are fast and frenetic and are exactly as you would expect from a full on Godzilla movie.
It's not going to win literary awards, but what it sets out to do it achieves perfectly in 150 pages.… (mehr)
