Barbara Dix

This is a master's thesis, which came to me from Bob Rodieck's library. Dix includes color plates which I find useful. She lists all kinds of color meanings, which, taken together, make an interesting read for an artist. "Folkhealser believed that red could ward off smallpox. The court physician of Edward II of England ordered that all of the furnishings in the King's room be red ... Similarly, the mikados of Japan were surrounded by red during smallpox epidemics."
