This novel follows a group of people that come together to stop a being with magical powers from releasing evil amongst their world. Overall, I highly enjoyed this book. I like the feel of the writing, much like a Grimm's fairy tale (albeit there were quite a few typos). Lots of characters, lots of adventure and a pretty good ending (no sequels needed to enjoy this book!). I'd recommend for anyone who enjoys fairy tales (be them young or old) and for ages of a mature child (some parts of the action may scare little ones) and up.

Entirely enjoyable. Read like a classic fairytale. The author used just the right amount of twists on established fairytale character types and the flow of the book was very smooth.
I enjoyed that this book felt to me as if it was a 294 page fairytale just like I read as a child. I would say it felt a bit like a Young Adult book, but that's arguable I guess.
My pet peeves, spelling and word editing, unfortunately, were present in this edition of the book. I feel that just a bit more detailed review prior to publishing would have polished an otherwise very nice book to a perfect shine.
The villain was villainous, the heroine was modest and stayed true to herself, and the supporting cast of characters was intriguing, amusing, and contributed that dash of interaction that felt just like old friends together. This didn't have any step-by-step fights or complex labyrinthine plots that could be hard to follow, just a good old fashioned fun tale that had me reading it in two sittings.
Kudos to the author for a imaginative and fun story to dive into, anyone who enjoys fairytales, especially with a small bit of humor injected, should like The Magical Bear Child.… (mehr)
A really magical journey through a world, where things are not always what they seem to be. Kathryn, the magical bear child, is a lovely person, whose story you just want to follow. But all characters are well developed and you start to care about them deeply.
There are some nice twists in the story itself, when everything seems to be go wrong but then turns good again in an uninspected, but still logical way.
I'm sure the added drawings would add to the story itself, unfortunately they are way to small in the ebook version, which makes it really hard to even see what is depicted.
All in all, a lovely story about a girl who starts a journey to find her (adopted) family and in the end finds herself.… (mehr)
