Started slow and a bit silly. Didn't make it more than one third of the way through.

I am a mood reader and was looking for a contemporary book to read on my kindle. I loved both the characters and their sweet romance. Paige is earnest and hardworking, with a positive outlook powered by both of those qualities. Dylan is overworked and losing his way, but he’s not lost yet. Dylan and Paige are as different as a sunny day and a rainstorm. They both want to buy the same cabin, both feeling a connection to the special place.
I loved how although they aren't perfect, they both are kind and considerate with the other's desires and feelings. I felt like I was falling in love as they did. The romance is slow and real. The characters are good people.
My opinion is that this book will be a good rom-com movie. Looking forward to reading more of Stacey Donovan's works.

Sunrise Cabin by Stacey Donovan
Source: NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing
My Rating: 3½/5 stars

**MINI-REVIEW**

The Bottom Line: I love the consistency in these Hallmark books! I knew when I dove into this book, I would get likeable characters, a decent plot without too much crazy or drama, and a happily ever after that is both deserved and ever so sweet. I think what I liked most about this book is the setting, the actual cabin. The cabin becomes something of a living thing as Dylan and Paige try and work out who is going to be the owner of the cabin. The history and age of the cabin become very real aspects of the read and absolutely impact both Dylan and Paige. While it isn’t a massive home or super expensive property, it is an entity filled with love, laughter, and so much promise for the future. While the cabin remains steady and strong, Dylan and Paige have to work through a whole host of issues both personally and professionally to get to their HEA. While I enjoyed Dylan quite a bit (especially his awesome job exit!) I found Paige a bit hard to really like; I tend to struggle with characters like Paige who are as naively optimistic as she is. Paige’s personality is my only real complaint about this otherwise charming and sweet read.… (mehr)

First of all I would like to start out by saying that when I was loaned this book I thought it might be a bit cheesy. I loved the show but wasn't sure about reading about it. There are cheesy parts. I could do without Jake's comments after opening each letter or at the end of the first three stories. But.... the surprising thing about this book was it was hot! It was hot like your typical erotica book read around here but it also has some emotion and more substance to it than some I have read. I'm a skimmer by nature but didn't want to with this book. The first story is called The Psychiatrist. She sits and listens to one of her patients descriptions of her escapades whit strangers and wonders about being that free and open herself. The next story was about two couples and how they danced, for years, around hooking up as a foursome. The third story was my least favorite and is about a dancer trying out for a music video and how she, with some outside help, is finally able to free herself of her small-minded upbringing. The final story is my favorite. It's written by two women that, in the story, write each other back and forth about their loves, losses and all of those inbetween. I loved the insight in this story. I would have given this a 4.5 but once again, no dice! lol… (mehr)
