Marjorie Dorner

A summer get together told from point of view of each of 6 women in their 50's. Presents the gradual progression of Alzheimer's, with good days and bad days, and the painful self-awareness of this intelligent woman who is losing her memory. Her friends need to come to terms with their own issues in order to be present for her in her need.
Great to read about a local college in disguise. Somewhat difficult for me to read about the reality for small town women in the 60's & 70's, the prejudice of their families, which sounds so petty and all too familiar.
These women tended to hide their true feelings, which detracted from the flow of the narrative. I agree that this is the way many women live out their lives, but it is also frustrating that they are so unable to share what is really going on in their lives.… (mehr)
