There were a few inconsistencies but overall the world of this story was a wonder. The daddydom-sub aspect was a bit uncomfortable but was cleverly worked into the world of the story. The pace was good. The characters were lightly developed. The plot and writing were good.½

I've read lots of dystopian stories, but Katie Douglas has come up with an interesting one.

Ember comes from the city. Everything is automated and mechanized and the city is run by the corrupt Brotherhood. When she is chosen to be a contestant on The Chase, she's thrilled, until she finds out that not everything is as she thought it was.

Hadley is the last rancher left. He only is able to exist because he gives the Brotherhood the fresh meat they deny everyone else.

One day, while he is gathering up a lost cow, he finds a naked and bleeding pink-haired woman, being harried by dogs. He takes pity on her, and brings Ember back to his ranch.

Ember and Hadley end up falling in love, even if he has to take her over his knee once or twice.

I really enjoyed the premise of the story, like I said, an interesting take on a dystopian story. Ember is a strong character who works hard at saving herself when she can. Hadley is protective and wants to care for her. Totally enjoyable read.

Trent and Thea have a DD/lg relationship. He thinks of her as his middle, not quite a little girl, not quite a woman, more like a sassy teenager. They both are busy at work, though Trent works more, since he just started a new job. He's tired of coming home to his house to no dinner, a messy house, and fiancee that is buried in her digital devices. Because of that, he's decided that he's going to help her get back under control and get the housework and cooking back to a good point. To that end, he turns her into a '50s housewife. He gets rid of the convenience appliances and makes her do it all the way it would've happened in 1950.

Needless to say, Thea has some problems with it. She's exhausted, stressed, and when she gets upset, Trent ends up having to go to work and ignores her, and her needs. Because of that, she runs away.

One of the things I liked about this story is that it showed that the dominant partners in any relationship can screw up, they aren't perfect, and it can take some time to get everything working the right way. It's a good story, and they do get the HEA that they deserve.

Finding an anthology where you want to read some of the authors is great. Finding one where you want to read all 23 authors in it is even better. That's what I found in Alien Alphas. I'm just going to touch on some of the stories because there just isn't enough room for me to talk about all 23.

Strangeways by Addison Cain 5*

Wow. That's about all I can say about this one. I really hope that some more books come out of this particular universe because I really liked it a lot.

OMG. The sex in this story? Completely out of the galaxy. I mean, yeah. I loved the descriptions of Phi's... equipment. Sounds mostly pretty hot. Great story.

You may think that you may not have an interest in tentacles, but really, this story will change your mind and make a believer out of you.

Finding Sitra by Jane Henry 4.5*

This is an interesting story with all kinds of layers in it. The title can be taken in so many different ways, which is totally awesome. I really loved that.

Cy and Sitra take a circuitous route to getting to their HEA. They had known each other for a long time, but then there was a year when they were wrapped up in their own pain and on issues and then they have to figure everything out.

I liked this story pretty well, especially the wordplay with the title. Clever wordplay is always highly appreciated.

Sold to the Enemies by Sara Fields 4*

Sara Fields brings us into a whole new scifi world for her offering.

Aubrie and Edogan's story is great. He rescues her from being sold as a slave. As the commander of the forces which destroyed her forces, not without losses of his own, he's well within his rights to take her as a slave and to punish her.

I like the fact that Edogan takes the time to learn about Aubrie and to help her figure things out. Aubrie is a strong character in herself, and Edogan lets her be that strong character. Good story.

Fated Possession by Cari Silverwood 5*

This story takes place in the same world as Cari's Machinery of Desire stories. It can be read without being familiar with the stories, but it's nicer to have the extra background of it.

Blue is a human dragged to another world for her blood. Sassik is a man who wants to find out what his destiny is. Neither one of them is what the other expects, but somehow they end up together and all is good.

I love all these books, so getting another little look into this world and another viewpoint on what's going on is excellent. I really liked Blue and Sassik's story.

Drakeon Rescue by Lee Savino and Lili Zander 4*

I love the Draekon universe. This book takes place in the same universe, at the same time as the other books, but isn't really connected with them in any other way.

Tin has been held by evil scientists and tested by them to try to find his mate. To that end result, they have abducted Dor from Earth and are going to test her. Cro is Tin's best friend and refuses to leave him as a captive.

I love these guys and them chemistry that flows between the 3 of them, and how protective they all are about each other. It's nice to have a different perspective as to what's going on in that 'verse.

Under Contract by Jaye Peaches 4.5*

We all know that keeping a contract, any contract, is really important. In Jaye Peaches' story, keeping a contract is everything. Breaking a contract totally ruins you, and no one will do any kind of business with you.

Brax is an extraction specialist. He signs contracts to go out and extract women from bad situations. Kleo is his newest job. He's supposed to go get her for her guardian.

Brax is intense. I like that a lot. He knows what he wants and he isn't afraid to get it. Kleo fights hard, first against herself and then for what she wants. I think they are a great pair with extremely extreme chemistry. Very hot, very lovely.

Her Zandian Masters by Renee Rose. 5*

I love Renee's big purple horned aliens. I mean, seriously, with that description, what's not to love?

Eslyn is one of the few Zandian women left in the entire universe. Her former "mates" forced her to do something horrible, and when she was brought before the prince, he sentenced her to rehabilitation. Granit, Laake, and Damon are the three guards who have been watching her, and now it's their job to teach her how to be a good Zandian.

Generally, Renee doesn't write menage in this series, because it turns out big purple horned aliens also tend to be somewhat possessive. However, it really works in this case, and it is hot af. The guys are awesome and caring, and they go out of their way to show Eslyn how much she matters. Totally awesome.

The Ghost in the Stars by Sophie Kisker 4.5*

This universe is going to be so good, I can just tell.

Siridin ends up rescuing Keelie, a human nectar slave. He's attracted to her even if he doesn't want to be, because he holds himself as responsible for horrible things that were out of his control. She hears voices while she's on the ship. But what does that mean for her?

OMG, this story is just so awesome. The idea behind it is so filthy and obscene but in such a good way. I can't wait to see where the rest of the universe goes and how filthy it gets.

I enjoyed this story. I really like dystopian/post-apocalyptic stories and I like stories with kink, so this hits all kinds of good places for me.

The government of Telona has kept Isla imprisoned in a breeding farm, where she's been artificially inseminated and cut open to take her babies away from her. One day she wakes up and is able to escape.

Adam has been imprisoned in the breeding farm as well. He's a doctor and is there to make sure that all the women who are there are as healthy as it is possible for them to be. He thinks there are all brain-dead since that's what he's told. However, when Isla talks to him, he's totally surprised.

She manages to get free, but she is taken to Adam, who tells the guards that he will train her to obey. The second he gets her alone, he starts plotting how to get away. He wanted to escape anyway, but there is something about Isla, so he wants to make sure that she goes with him.

This isn't just a kinky story, it's also kind of a coming-of-age story. Isla grows and matures during the whole book and it's really interesting to watch that happen. There's also the whole road trip aspect to it. A great story with a lot of awesome layers and aspects. I have really enjoyed the series and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next.

This is a quick and dirty little story. It's basically an instalove or at least instalust story. Lots, and lots, and lots of lust. And some more lust.

Kaylee rushes into Erika's vet clinic holding a cat that she rescued from some jerk kids who were trying to kill it. Kaylee introduces herself as a single lesbian, and Erika is all for that idea. Erika is also very dominant while Kaylee is submissive.

When Erika sets up a date with Kaylee, she explains that she likes her girls to be puppies, and there will be all kinds of happy going on for both of them.

Great story, quick read. Nice and dirty. I loved reading it and will read it when I need a nice kinky pick-me-up.

Normally, when you hear the phrase 6 of the best, it's a warning that someone is getting 6 cuts of the cane. That's not what's happening here. Here, we're getting 6 of the best spanking stories. So, yay! Stories are better than canes. Probably.

Ashe Barker, Felicity Brandon, Gracie Malling, Jaye Peaches, Katie Douglas, and Vanessa Brooks have each written a story that fits somewhere into British history between the Restoration and the late Victorian. We get to see Alpha men who are taking care of the women that they love. They all cherish them, love them, and spank them as necessary.

The women are all strong in their own ways, from the woman who decides that she needs to become a highwayman so that she can support her family to the woman who is afraid of having sex so she is bound and determined to stay a virgin, even though she's married. The one thing that they all have in common is that they are submissive to their husbands and they accept their husbands' discipline.

Of all the stories, Lettie from Gracie Malling's The Impertinent Wife is my favorite character. That's because I think that she's a lot like me. I'm often struggling to be polite, I'm deeply sarcastic, and I will tell people that I think they are too stupid for words. Of course, I don't have her husband threatening to spank me, so it's much easier for me to be those things.

My favorite of all the stories is Katie Douglas' story, His Reluctant Bride. I love the things that happen to Laura. I want to go there, so bad, because it all sounds so dirty and hot. But, it's also sweet and loving. It can totally be both.

Of course, none of that means that I don't like the other stories. This is definitely going to be an anthology I read when I need something that I know is going to be good and that I will enjoy.

Katie Douglas writes a lot of interesting stuff. This book is an historical romance, but instead of going back to the Victorian period or even earlier, she chose the mid-1920s. The 20s were a huge time of change. Women had gotten a taste of independence and running things during WWI, had gotten or were fighting for the vote, and had more opportunities open to them than ever before. Meanwhile, their parents were generally much more conservative, especially at the higher levels of society, and they wanted their daughters to stay home and make a good marriage. Well, that's not in Bobbie's plan.

Bobbie is a strong-willed, independent young woman who is a scholar of antiquities. She goes out and searches for the next great discovery, and tries to do it before William Petrie can steal it from her. She's still dealing with the old boys' club and the men who just want to pat her on the head and tell her not to worry about anything. But, she's not planning on listening to them, and she's not going to settle down into a good marriage, even if there were any men out there to marry.

Sean has been asked by her parents to go to Egypt and fetch Bobbie back. When he catches up to her, he ends up having to spank her. That doesn't deter her from getting away from him the very first chance she gets. Too bad he caught up to her, and spanked her again, then dragged her back to England. This starts a pattern that they are going to follow for a while.

This is a lovely, sweet story filled with easter eggs and a lot of laughs. While there is some domestic discipline going on, primarily this is a light romance with a lot of adventure and a tiny bit of mysticism tossed in. It's an easy read, and one that I plan on keeping in my collection for when I need something light, funny, and easy.

Sweet and lovely

Such a sweet and sexy love story between 4 people. I love Lea and her sweet, childlike personality. She seems to bring happiness and joy to everyone around her. Ben is stern and loving, and very hot. Elspeth is just what everyone needs, both dominant and submissive, depending on who she's with at any given moment, and Cedric fits his role well.

There's a lot of love and laughter in this one, and I completely enjoyed it.

Oh my stars and garters, this is a totally wonderful story. It's got romance, passion, spanking, and humor. It's just marvelous.

There's a small village in the Scottish Highlands where women marry two men because it's important to make sure that the women are taken care of if something bad happens, since the men are generally fishermen and they have a dangerous job. Lucy, a wonderful baker, wants to have Steen be one of her husbands and wants Hugh to be the other, but she's pretty sure that Hugh hates her now.

Katie Douglas has balanced humor in with the romance and the conflict in the story. There's a nice amount of heat and a sprinkling of the fantastic. I really loved reading the story, it was just a delightful book to read on a lovely day, and one that made me really happy to have read. I love Lucy, I've felt just like her in the past, which makes her kind of endearing and relatable. Steen and Hugh are pretty awesome too, and I think it will really take both of them to make sure that Lucy is taken care of well.

I can't wait for the next book in the series. I'm sure that the trio in that group will be just as interesting as the trio in this one.

I love reading about highlanders, because, hot, right? Large, hot men in kilts? Is there anything better? So Glenaesh is a village that I would love to visit, right around Midsummer's Eve for the Circle Dance.

Fiona, whose parents have died, has fled from London to Glenaesh to live with her aunt and uncle. She's been there a month before the Circle Dance happens. Her Aunt gets her to go, but tells her that she is fine, as long as she stays out of the circle. If she gets into the circle and dances with any man or men, she's going to end up married to them. Fiona is all fine with avoiding that, since she has written to Martin in London to get him to come up and visit because she is hoping that he will come up and ask her to marry him and take her away from all this.

At the gathering before the dance, she sees quite the largest man she's ever seen, William. He's a taciturn hunter, but the apple ringey she's drunk has made her brave, so she walks up to him and asks him how tall he is. Then she sees Graham and talks to him. He's the go to man for the village. If something is broken or some kind of invention is needed, he's the one that everyone goes to. When the music and dancing starts, all 3 of them are plenty happy to watch, but none of them want to participate. But then the music and the spirit world starts to work on them and they all three end up in the circle in their own private dance. Their spirits merge together, but with one extra tendril sneaking out and binding someone else in their little trio.

None of the group adjusts well to what's going on. They all have their own wants and needs, and they are all quite stubborn, which means they don't want to play well with others. Fiona worries about how she's going to please 2 men and keep 2 houses. Graham and William neither want to share their beautiful bride. It starts out with no one happy at all. I understand why each of them behave the way that they do. They all have fears and worries and I think that they may all have a wee bit too much stubborness and pride. Over all, I really like all of them and Martin as well. OK, it took me a minute to like Martin, because of the way that he came onto the scene, but he turned out to be not so bad after all.

I need to have more of this series to see how some of the revelations we've gotten from this book play out in other books.

I absolutely love this sweet book. Totally love it. There's not a lot of sex in it, but there is a lot of love and passion, and in this book, that's more important.

Lissy knows she just doesn't adult right. She tries so hard to adult, but it feels like it's a mask she is putting on. When her boyfriend finds her dolls, she ends up kicking him out of the house and tries to live without it. Then she finds Dan. When Dan finds her dollies, he doesn't break up with her. Instead, he tries to figure out what she needs and how he can give it to her. When he talks to his friend Trent, they figure out that Lissy is a little. She has an inner little girl that needs to be cared for, loved, and cherished.

This book really is wonderful. It's all about Lissy's journey to figure out who she is and what she needs and Dan's journey to help the woman he loves figure out who she is and their journey together as a couple. There isn't any bad guy they have to fight, it's just these two trying to figure out who they are and how to meet their needs together. It's truly a beautiful love story.

This is a lovely set of stories. Each of the 4 stories have the focus on a different couple, but they are all interconnected because they all know each other. Plus, events overlap from story to story.

Everyone wants to go to Daddy Island, an island resort that is specifically tailored to people who are ageplayers and Littles. It has everything every Little boy or girl would like to share with their Daddies, Mommies, Aunties, or Uncles. So, Thea and Trent, Lissy and Dan, Mandy, and Precious, our favorite Coast Side ageplayers, planned to go to the island together so that they could get the group discount. While they are there, they have lots of new adventures and meet some new friends.

Thea and Trent are there to have a babymoon before their baby is born. Thea is a Middle. She is more of a tween than a younger child. While we met Thea and Trent in the first book in this series, they have their own story that's more of a prequel of sorts.

Lissy and Dan are trying to get their lives back together after Lissy got hurt, and now she's out of control. Daddy Island can hopefully be the place where they can get everything back to how it was going before Lissy's birthday and her broken arm.

Natalie is from Coast Side, but she's not part of our original group. She's there because her "boyfriend" Steve is there and she wants to win him back. However, when she sees him with Mandy, she loses it and trashes his hotel room. But then, she finds someone she needs.

Mandy and Precious are there as friends, because they are totally besties. But then, Steve comes on to Mandy. But when she sees his true colors, she knows she needs to run.

We got to see two established couples, and I'm guessing that we saw two new couples who will be in the next books. I loved all the couples and I loved how sweet the stories are. Overall, these stories are sweet, and light, and touching, and beautiful. We get to see women who are loved and cherished and adored by the men in their lives. We get to see men who are strong and nurturing who are happy to guide the women they love and to help them be the best person they can be. It's a lovely set of stories and I so loved reading them.

When Katie Douglas says these are short, she's not kidding. I think it took me under 40 minutes to read the whole thing. They really aren't full stories, you are basically just getting a little vignette or scene that is happening. There isn't much plot, just nice and steamy sex. It's pretty perfect for a very quick and very dirty read.

What happens when you get 4 wolves and a Scottish wildcat? Well, you get a marriage that could only be made in Glenash.

Tabitha has a secret. She turns into a wildcat 3 days out of every month. She's accepted that she's not going to get married because she doesn't think that anyone would accept her. So when her grandmother drags her to the dance that's held every Midsummer's Eve in Glenash where the spirits create marriages, she reluctantly goes. She doesn't plan on getting married, but as Robbie Burns said “The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley.”

Campbell, Kivan, Innis, and Frazer also have a secret. They can turn into wolves. They are pack, with Frazer as their alpha. They aren't planning on getting married either, but when Frazer sees Tabitha headed towards him, and then suddenly run away, he gets a little sad. He has a thing for her. (Oh boy, does he!) When the music starts, the boys end up forming their own circle and dancing, even though that wasn't on their schedule for the night, and into the center of their circle walks a wildcat. The boys all feel a bond happening, but surely the spirits aren't going to match 4 dogs and a cat.

I love Tabitha, especially when she's a wildcat. The name definitely fits at that point. She is wild and bold and fearless. Some of that carries over to her people form, but she's also worried about who will know her secret. I think that the boys definitely will benefit from the wildness that is Tabitha, while she will definitely work well with the discipline and control that the boys can teach her. Overall, this is a great love story and pretty hot. And there's bagpipes.

Katie Douglas is such an excellent Daddy writer. I love all her Daddy books. And when you add in 4 super hot dragons? Oh yes, please. I'd happily call them Daddy.

Alora is the galaxy's princess, no, really, she is. When someone blows up the government buildings and kidnaps her, she ends up rescued by 4 dragons named Argon, Sharpe, Canavan, and Brynn. They were out in space hoping to explore the planet of Telia I when they came across a ship that showed traces of dragon DNA, which they thought meant that the ship had eggs, but when they got there, they found Alora, who is being held by slavers. They rescue her and bring her home to their cavern on Telia II.

I really like Alora. She's very smart and she manages to change her personality around in the right ways. It's pretty awesome. The various flames that the guys can do are pretty cool too. I wouldn't mind having Canavan's purple flame going on. It seems like it would pretty cool, if you'd pardon the expression when talking about flame.

I can't wait to see where the rest of the series is going to go.

Christmas can be really hard for a lot of people. The emotions that the season can bring up can really bring people down and some people really dread the holiday season. Chloe was one of those people.

Chloe has a lot of issues stemming out of her childhood. She has to deal with a lot of stress and anxiety and it's really starting to cripple her life. And worse yet, Christmas is coming. But, her boyfriend and Dom, Bradley, has a plan. They are going to have a very special 12 days of Christmas. Each of those 12 days, Chloe will be a different age, starting as a baby, to help her deal with the trauma of her past and to help her get some Christmas spirit.

Bradley is so good and so patient with Chloe. She has such a hard time and there are so many traps that he doesn't even know about and about which Chloe has a hard time talking about until she falls into the trap. But, he really does so well and takes care of her so very well. So beautiful, so lovely, so sweet.

This is a sweet and loving story with a lot of spicy added in. I love Katie Douglas' stories because they are just such nice reads that they tend to give my mood a nice little boost and my day some nice spice.

Alana is on the run from her jerk ex, Jimbo. She's run from Seattle and is now in AZ, where she's passed out in the heat at a gas station, right in front of a Cowboy in Shining Armor, Lawson. He spirits her home and gives her a safe place to stay. But there's more between them than just being safe.

I really love Lawson. He's really such a good man. He doesn't have any ulterior motives when he decides to help Alana. He just does it because that's what you do. He does become Alana's rock and helps her by giving her a safe place to find herself, but I think that he doesn't rescue her and find her as much as he lets her rescue herself and find herself. He's the safe place she can go to while she's doing that. I really like that. I think that they are really are perfect for each other.

I like this series, there's a lot of love going on, and a lot of tension, which makes the story just perfect. This one overlaps the first book in time, but it's a standalone, so if you haven't read the first one, you won't get lost, but who wants to jump into a series right in the middle?

Harper is always on the run, she's trying to find something, and she figures that she will find it on the road, somewhere. But then she parks in front of the farm entrance of the Lemon Tree Ranch, and ends up having to deal with Barrett. He wants for her to stay and do a day's worth of work because she wasted his time, but he has ulterior motives for doing what he's doing.

I like Barrett. He's got a good, caring heart, even though he was kind of jerky to begin with. I don't think that he was a jerk because he's actually a jerk, I think that he's a situational jerk. But he's a good guy otherwise.

Harper is a strong and independent character. I think that she's afraid of a lot of things, and so she runs. She might not be consciously afraid, but it's there. And while she's traveling, trying to find out what she is looking for, it's going to be hard because she doesn't know what she's looking for.

It's a great story and I can't wait to see what comes next.

I've really loved reading this series. All the guys are really good guys who want nothing more than to take care of the women they love. The women are all strong women who realize that they can be taken care of by their men without losing anything of themselves. That's a hard line to walk, but it works really well.

Dylan, I think, is very strong, and she's dealing with all kinds of crap the best that she can, but there's just a lot of stuff built up there, and it sometimes affects things badly. Then there's Jake, who is a very solid dependable guy. He's the kind of guy you always want at your back.

I love a good second chance romance, and this definitely fits in that category. Great story and a good way to end the series.

I will add to this review when the anthology comes out and I read more of the book. This is for the first four stories that I was lucky to review. If the rest of the anthology is like the novellas I have just read then this is a MUST buy for everyone who loves sci-fi romance.

Fated Possession by Cari Silverwood

This is a great novel about Sassik and Blue. It follows along with the Machinery of Desire world. While this is a novella it seems like a full story. There was humor, there was steam, there was a little mystery as you tried to discover who certain characters were. The ending was vague in it left it open for you to decide if it was happily ever after or not. Knowing this authors work, I can say that not everything is as it seems. If you haven't read the first two books (both standalones) then I would highly recommend that you do that as the world is phenomenal.

Strangeways by Addison Cain

I am not sure that there is an alien out there that this author cannot make attractive or make the sex any more unusual but still hot. I might have a serious crush on Phi, the alien that never sleeps, who wants to take care of Emily. I really want this world to continue and see how humans 'adapt'. My only complaint with the novella is that I did not want it to end. I credit that to the fact that the author is exceptional in how she crasfts a story with a certain cadence and style that is uniquely her own.

Draekon Rescue by Lee Savino and Lili Zander.

What starts out as "Worst. Day. Ever" for Dor, Tin and Cor ends up being the best. Great characters and chemistry. great story line. I love the inner commentary of Dor when reacting to her her men. I laughed out loud several times. I love this writing duo by these authors. I did not want this story to end. I loved the tie in with Dor and video games also and how it turned into a pivotal life changing moment.

Their Zandian Mate by Renee Rose

I loved this story. Alien men, spankings, pain/pleasure, steamy times, and babies. HELL YES. Give me all the alien babies and alpha men who know how to be both nurturing and dominating at the same time. I hope this story gets expanded because I was not ready for it to end. I need to have all the words from the author about this world.
