Molly Marks writes rom-com for movies but doesn't believe in love. Seth Rubenstein is one of Chicago's best divorce lawyers, but he does believe in love and is looking for "the one." The two dated in high school but broke up at graduation.

They meet again at their fifteenth high school graduation and realize the love they had for each other had never really gone away. But Molly is still the sort who runs away from relationships and Seth is still the one who leaps into them too soon. They make a bet with each other: if they can correctly guess the fates of five couples at the reunion, including themselves, each will adopt the other's point of view regarding love and soul mates.

Then the story leaps ahead to various encounters the two of them have during the next five years which are all ill-fated. For example, she's willing to give their relationship a try just as he commits himself to someone else. Or he makes a play for her just as she is disappointed again by her emotionally distant father. And again, and again. They meet at the wrong times for one or the other of them.

It was interesting to watch each of the main characters grow up and amend their views of love and soul mates. It was also painful to read about all the times they tried and failed to build a relationship and communicate with each other.… (mehr)

This delightful rom-com really hits the mark for it's genre. Sparkling banter between the main characters Molly and Seth, spicy sex scenes, very funny dialog between supporting characters and a few good life lessons thrown in for good measure. I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrators were excellent. Molly and Seth meet again at their fifteenth high school reunion which is a bit awkward as Molly had broken up with Seth right before graduation. But there is still a spark between them, they had never really gotten over each other. After too many cocktails they spend the night together and wake up to some regrets. But they make a bet. They each choose which of five couples at the reunion they think will be together at the next high school reunion. This is just the beginning of how they will make their way back to each other. Of course it won't be easy but it is a pleasure to go on this journey with them, rooting for them all the way. I really enjoyed this novel. Fun, flirty and full of lovers trying to find their soul mates. Highly recommended. 5 stars.… (mehr)

Molly split with her high school sweetheart, Seth, breaking his heart, just before they were to leave for college. Seth, a divorce attorney in Chicago, believes in soulmates. Molly is a rom com screenwriter in LA, ironic since she always seems to sabotage her romantic relationships. They unexpectedly meet up at their 15th HS reunion and a spark is reignited, but just for one night, although Seth makes a bet they will be together for their 20th reunion. They play on and off again with their relationship over the ensuing months, with Seth even getting engaged to someone else. Yet, they can’t seem to forget each other. Who will win the bet?

Romance novels are not my typical go tos, but I loved this book. Witty, entertaining, fast moving, I recommend this read to rom com fans as well as though wanting to dip into this genre. It is told in dual POVs, alternating between Molly and Seth. As a Floridian, I was impressed by how much Doyle really “gets” Florida. Lots of good humor here! My only hesitation with the book is that Seth is almost too good to be true…but, after all, it is fiction!
