Sequels by other authors are normally pretty derivative affairs, but this is one spin off that really has a life of its own. It follows on closely from the tragic conclusion to Terry Nation's original novel, revealing the fate of Abby Grant's son Peter. It's a Britain in the grip of a military dictatorship and Peter joins up, his trauma giving him a ruthless strength that pushes him to bigger and better things. Though fate gradually draws him towards a reckoning with the Red Dragons who resit Wormly's incursions into Wales. A worthy follow-up and a satisfying alternate conclusion to the Survivors story.… (mehr)
