I'm not a fan of romantic comedies, as I have said in past reviews. They make me cringe and I quickly get annoyed and stop reading them. But that changed when I read Until We Collide by Charlotte Fallowfield, which had me rolling on the floor with laughter. And now I'm thrilled to say that the author is back with with a new book called Never The Bride, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but this book is even better than Until We Collide.

Abbie Carter has suffered through so many duties as a bridesmaid, that she thought she would never find her mister right. But until then she has Georgie (her best friend) her Neighbor Daphne, who was like a surrogate mother to her and Sumo her bull dog, that seemed to have a grudge against her. And add to that high arch nemesis Fifi, Abbie's live in Dilbury was a simple one. But Abbie wondered if she would be stuck clutching bouquets and walking up the aisle in awful bridesmaids dresses for the rest of her life.

But one wedding reception she met the amazing American, Miller Davis, who was simply perfect for her, and luckily for Abbie, he thought she was perfect too! There was just one thing that stood in their way... the Atlantic Ocean, see you I left wondering? Will Abbie keep her man? or will she always be the bridesmaid??

OMG!! This book is so freaking amazing!! I love it so much! It truly is a masterpiece. I love Abbie, with her self-deprecating humor, and willingness to make a fool of herself, to show someone how much they mean to her. I love Miller's vulnerability and uncertainty to romance and trust. And Daphne and George's character just really perfect the book.

The author's writing is witty, heartwarming and the plot had me doubled over with laughter! This book is simply perfection and one of my favorites of all time.

I give Never the Bride 5 stars!!

Georgie Basset is the fun loving dog groomer of Dilbury, that funny little village on the border of Wales, and if you have read any other Charlotte Fallowfield books, you would have read all about this crazy little village.

But that is not where we begin our journey, nope! We start it in Mexico, where we find Georgie and her best friend Abbie Carter, after Annie fled from Dilbury, after Miller and the cake scandal...and despite Disaster Carter happening EVERYWHERE they go, from being a reject from the blue man group, mauled by a dolphin and being in a resort where everyone things you're a lesbian! Georgie finds something more than laughter at the situations they find themselves (or Abbie) in! She also finds Adonis like Weston Argent; retired Captain of Her Majesty's Royal British Army, and current personal trainer.

But after being cheated on my her ex Greg, Georgie is scared to enter a relationship, but she takes that chance, and trusts him....but is she making a big mistake?

OMG this book had me in stitches from the get go! Seriously! Charlotte Fallowfield absolutely kills it in this book! From the beyond ridiculous bad luck, to those cringe-worthy moments we can all relate too! And though I have said in the past that I'm not a rom-com fan! The author has proven me to be a liar, as this book is brilliant.

The plot to The Great Escape is light hearted, but in those serious moments, the author manages to change the mood of the book slightly, but doesn't destroy the flow of the storyline. And when it comes to the character's, Well! You love them all! But I think I love Bertie just that little more.

I give The Great Escape 5 (thousand) stars! Truly THE book of the summer!

When you pick up The Best Medicine by Charlotte Fallowfield prepare you self for many things; the sudden urge for pizza, the need to have a hefty first aid kit handy, and laughing SO much, and you might need to invest in Tena lady!

From the moment you start reading The Best Medicine, you cannot help but relate to Charlie! She is us, at our core! A pizza, and book loving author, that is accident prone, but she is also a workaholic, whom has the heart of gold, who craves love, but doesn't recognize it, even if she got it tattooed on her butt! But her key achievement, is her discovery of Pizza Man! The best superhero in the world!

The Best Medicine is truly another home run for this author, whose Dilbury series seriously out of this world funny! The writing and plot are superb! And you too will fall in love with the characters, and this little town.

I give The Best Medicine 5 stars!

Some people have personal chefs, some people have personal trainers. I want a personal author, and it must be Charlotte Fallowfield: "Write up a little something for me, will you? I desperately need a good laugh or a good cry or some sexy romance." Yes, she's that good, and yes, I want her to write for me at my whim.

The Best Medicine is the third entry in the Dilbury Village series of romantic comedy novels by Charlotte Fallowfield. And, oh, what a clever girl she is. Each new book is like a walk down memory lane, but with an improved prescription for your glasses so you see things you missed or didn't know were there. She expertly weaves in the adventures of the latest cottage dweller - this time it's Charlie in Jasmine Cottage, with a perfect, though through those new eyes, retelling of what started with Abbie in Holly Cottage and continued with Georgie in Ivy Cottage. So here I am, loving learning all of Charlie's story in Jasmine Cottage (and already fingers and toes crossed about who I want her to be with) while getting to relive Abbie's and Georgie's adventures - well, misadventures and antics is probably more accurate. And I know full well that, yes, I am going to re-read Never the Bride and The Great Escape right after I finish The Best Medicine, at which time I'll probably read it again, too. Just like I had to go back and cry and laugh and snort with Abbie while reading Georgie's story for the first time, it's going to be the same with Charlie. And side note - I am in awe - how does she do it? Funny, sad, romantic, sexy (sigh…think of Miller, Weston, Kitt….), can't-put-it-down AND all the stories perfectly woven together.

If you aren't convinced and haven't stopped reading this review and moved to Dilbury yet, how about this? Calling Charlie accident-prone doesn't even begin to cover it. She managed to - wait, no, I can't tell you the details, much too funny and would spoil everything - but she had no fewer than 13 little accidents in the course of this story and still lived to tell about it. Thank goodness for McFitty (hot factor ten, sense of humor zero) and Pizzaman (smells like oregano). The author says she had these "mishaps" herself, just over a longer period of time. No, I wouldn't laugh at someone's misfortune and pain. Yes I would.

In addition to Abbie and Georgie and Charlie and all the hot guys, Daphne of the bossy, outrageous comments and Quinn from the US still learning just what all these Brit words and expressions mean are back. Think of courgette; I had to look up.

Charlie is still writing her very successful erotic novels and is still her lovable unfiltered, ungraceful self, saying out loud whatever pops into her head: "You'd be amazed at my mental capacity for kink and explicit erotica." or "Say you just found me dead on the floor, waiting for an undertaker."

I love everything about these books and everybody in Dilbury Village, and I especially love this stuff, "I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him even closer, so close not even a page of descriptives of the most perfect kiss I'd ever been a recipient of could come between us." Even though I read this book straight through as I always do when visiting Dilbury Village, I probably took a lot longer than necessary to finish, since I kept reading the good parts over and over (and yes, I confess, over), which was a lot of re-reading since they are all good parts.

I received a copy of The Best Medicine from the author. I highly, definitely, positively recommend you read it right now. And. Charlotte, get going with our trip to Honeysuckle Cottage please.

I liked this book much better in the beginning than I did by the end.

Paige, our protagonist, falls deeply in love with Alec as a teen, and he with her- and yet, somehow, things never work out between them. Unfortunately, this is largely a result of a pointed plot and thus pretty stupid decisions made by both Paige and Alec. Alec comes out the worse, since when he wants to woo Paige again as an adult- after being all-but-married to another for years- he stomps off instantly when she wants some time to consider.

The gimmick- and it is cute- is that while Paige is a lingerie supermodel, she is also clumsy with bad luck, which tends to make all her dating efforts more humorous than not.

It is, mostly, amusing, and descends into farce pretty enthusiastically.

I dropped it to 3 points because the "conflicts" between the 2 main leads were arbitrary and did not speak well of our protagonists' basic human decency.

But- a warning: There is utterly NO excuse for keeping his second chpoice girl dangling for over 10 years, only to jilt her on their wedding day. Anyone who would do that is scum. Anyone who would be HAPPY that her mate had done that is also scum.

OK, this chick-lit "romance" probably has way more than its fair share of gross humor, although some of it was actually funny in context. Vulgar, but funny!

Abbie attended a girls' school, and her cohort therein swore a solemn vow to each be bridesmaids at every one of their weddings... and there were 13-14 in the group.

Abbie has been collecting hideous bridesmaid dresses for years now, even as she loses hope in finding a groom of her own. This is important, since apparently if a girl has been a bridesmaid 13 times, she id DOOMED to spinsterhood!

Yes, silly. But it is a silly book.

Abbie is not always a doormat, but she does respond excessively upon occasion. Miller, her on-again, off-again boyfriend is rather too perfect, even when being unreasonable- and that's not handled well.

I enjoyed this book for the most part, but doubt I will read more in the series.

Started out interesting but fell off quickly and never quite recovered for me. Maybe because it is the first book in the series and so lots of explanation seemed necessary--why she lived where she lived, how she got there, etc. And it just didn't capture my attention.

When The Great Escape, the second novel in the Dilbury Village series, starts we are at a tropical beach resort with Mrs. & Mrs. Carter. Yes, you read that right. Georgie is the dog groomer in Dilbury and Abbie is, well, Abbie of Never the Bride fame, aka Disaster Carter. And that’s all you’ll get from me. There are no spoilers here. And you can read the synopsis of the book up above. So I’m here to tell you that what you need to do is sit right down and Read. This. Book. Every single word. Now.

I hope this review convinces you to buy this book, but Charlotte Fallowfield is the one with the words. Anything I say beyond “Go to Dilbury now and never leave!” is superfluous. You’ll be oh so glad you did.

Another reviewer wrote, “I'll admit, Charlotte Fallowfield could write a shopping list and I'd be chomping at the bit to read it. She just *that* talented.” Oh yes, and if Charlotte Fallowfield is not going to write about 50 more Dilbury novels, I hope she does start publishing her shopping lists and any other little scraps she jots down. Yes, she is that good.

The Dilbury stories are about friends - their love and loyalty and their ability to stick by us and hold us up, no matter what happens. And, oh yeah, some seriously sexy guys, the kind that drive you to distraction and make you answer “Why hot?” when you meant “Why not?” Where are these men in my life?? I’ve been happily married for an eon (seems like) but I still want Miller and Weston (or Veston, as Daphne would say).

The Great Escape will make you sigh, cry, cry again, laugh out loud, snort, piddle, and dare I say fart? You’ll have your awww moment when Weston says, “To resist doing what? Kissing you like I need you to breathe.” You’ll have your serious snuffling moment when he opens up to Georgie and confesses what’s been going on with him. You can decipher ben nerf, ack rocket, and oh cwap, un bubble cwap for yourself, but trust me when I say you will never think of chocolate sauce and gummi bears the same way again. It was so disgusting, but I must be honest, my imagination was even more disgusting and I was laughing out loud looking for someone to share these passages with.

It is amazing how Charlotte Fallowfield can make something so full of crude, earthy (marvelous btw) humor also be so darn sweet. Not to mention letting us spend some time with Bertie the French bulldog.

Of course I read The Great Escape in one sitting. I took a couple of necessary breaks (well, not as necessary as some of Abbie’s lol) but once I started I couldn’t put it down. As with Never the Bride, as soon as I finished The Great Escape I wanted to pick it back up and start reading it again, not ready to leave Dilbury. In fact, as soon as I started The Great Escape I was overwhelmed with nostalgia to take a trip down memory lane for some Abbie & Miller time.

I received an ARC of The Great Escape in exchange for an honest review. I loved it, I loved it, I loved it, and you will too. I cannot wait for my third visit to Dilbury Village. Hurry up, Charlotte, or at least give us a shopping list or something in the meantime!

I’m sorry, Charlotte Fallowfield. I don’t know what else is on your schedule, but you need to cancel it and sit down and write the rest of the novels in this series right now! Never The Bride works wonderfully well as a standalone story, but it's also the first in the Dilbury Village series of romantic comedy novels. After discovering Dilbury Village and Abbie Carter, I can’t wait to go there again – NOW!

This book is perfect. I didn’t want it to ever end and as soon as I finished I could have picked it up and read the whole thing again, it’s that good. It has everything. It’s funny, laugh out loud funny. Wait, what am I saying, laugh out loud funny? It’s snort out loud, wipe your eyes and blow your nose funny, touching, poignant, sweet, sexy, hot, and delightfully disgusting in places.

Abbie Carter feels rather unfulfilled in her life. She could be one of us, lying on the floor trying to zip her jeans, worrying about her looks - full mouth, pouty lips that looked like a trout’s apparently. She has a good job and nice home and a close friend to talk to, but she misses her dad so much, and her smelly dog Mr. Sumo doesn’t treat her very well. And even worse, Abbie made a pact with her boarding school classmates to be bridesmaids at each other’s weddings. Well, she’s heading to #9 now and her own Prince Charming is nowhere in sight. She is convinced if she gets to #13 all hope will be lost.

Never the Bride starts out as gently funny, stressing friendship and family and love for Mr. Sumo (dog walkies on a skateboard?) and the beautiful English countryside. But it soon moves to wildly funny and never slows down. Well, except when it’s so sweet and sad it makes you cry.

I know I might be overusing the word, but the phrasing is perfect. And the love . . . sigh. Well, with Miller, not with the horny dolphin. When Miller looks at Abbie at wedding #9 and winks she’s lost, in the best way. Of course there’s some flailing up the aisle, sprinklers, an electric fence, and much more, but with Miller, even though she hardly knew him, it was like she’d known him for years. But can they make a relationship work across an ocean?

You must read Never the Bride. The descriptions of the beautiful English countryside were so vivid and real I felt as if I was back there working as I did many years ago. And the story just makes you feel good. Abbie and Miller at Dilbury Village made me feel like I did when I first read Dorothy Cannell’s Ellie and Ben at Merlin’s Court. Not the story, Charlotte Fallowfield has made Dilbury unique, but the feeling of being with people you want to be surrounded by again and again and again. Even when weird or sad or funny things are happening, you are where you want to be and not leave.

I received an e-book ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review, but I will be purchasing the print copy as soon as it is available.

Until We Collide is the story of Paige; who is one of the clumsiest people in the world! Well at least in Shrewsbury anyway, whether its dealing with evil cows, having accidents in canoes or walking down the aisle with her dress in her knickers (I have actually experienced this and thank god for the wedding planner that caught it every day)! If there is a calamity to be had Paige is there causing it, but as she goes through her accident prone life, there is the one man in her life who can make it all better…Alec
But as in all things in Paige’s life, even her love for Alec is not straight forward and they can never seem to get it together to be together and so the highs and lows of their bumpy almost courtship continues until a misunderstanding of epic proportion ends with Alec planning on heading down the aisle with someone else and Paige heart broken and with a jellyfish sting and we as readers are left wondering if Paige is ever going to get her Prince Charming?!
What a book! I honestly don’t think I have ever laughed so much! I literally had tears spilling down my face from Paige dealing with one evil cow to another evil cow (Ruth) all together! I thought my heart was going to break when Alec left Rome (my husband claims he lost his hearing from all my shouting), to my cheers and tears of Poppies’ wedding (my hubby had given up watching TV at this point). This book gave me such a book hangover that I am tearing up just thinking about it.
Where it comes to the characters I don’t think there was one that I didn’t love! Well change that! I loved them all except Ruth! I think I could literally compare every character to someone in my family and that just made this book even more special to me. When it comes to the plot and the writing it was amazing as always, whether she writes as CJ Fallowfield or Charlotte Fallowfield, the author is amazing! And has a mind-blowing talent.
I give Until We Collide 5 stars

What does it take to find your one true love?

Paige Taylor and Alec Wright fall in love, but life has different plans for them. So with a parting promise of "until we collide," Paige and Alec go their separate ways and follow different paths in life. Ten years years later, both Paige and Alec find themselves at a crossroads in their lives, then fate steps in at just the right time for their lives to collide, and maybe get a second chance at finding true love.

In her debut romantic comedy novel, Until We Collide, author Charlotte Fallowfield weaves a delightful tale that has just the right mixture of romance and humor that easily keeps the reader following Paige and Alec's story. Told in the first person perspective of Paige, I couldn't help but really like her, she is a beautiful but clumsy and oh so funny girl, who along with her best friend Poppie, finds herself caught up in a lot of dating mishaps and disasters that are hilarious, while her heart still beats only for Alec. Then there is swoon worthy Alec, who never stopped loving Paige, even though they had taken different life paths so long ago, they are just the perfect couple. You just never know when fate will step in and allow you another chance at your heart's desire. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, it made me laugh, groan, sigh, and smile, what more could anyone ask for?!

Until We Collide is a funny, sweet, and entertaining romantic comedy that will keep you in stitches and leave a smile on your face.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
