I loved reading this book during the 1970s, apparently just before the author passed away in 1973, a day shy of his 80th birthday. I read the red hardback copy from the state university library, which had a great philosophical and theological section.

The chapter on Christian Conduct was the one most compelling to me, and most problematic, after the chapters integrating Tillichian analysis.

By classical constructs, Christian theists HAS seen God as transcendent, and this analysis sees that way also, as did Tillich, but is that how modern 21st (then 20th) century Christians should 'do theology' faithfully?

I recall, too, that Ferré sided with the Democratic Socialists of Europe and gave his reasons for doing so.
